Project: flying circus

I was expecting you 🙂.
There is PE too in the 262 and the spitfire too, but there is more here....and six of them!
2 October 2018, 07:59
I'm keen to see what you do here. I barely started mine, so I want to steal all your good ideas. The sweet kits are... sweet, aren't they?
2 October 2018, 09:49
Very much. Only Platz can be considered better. Eduard ones are ok, although engraved detail is too deep for that scale.
2 October 2018, 10:34
Zero may take a while to be started, though. Need to finish Mustang, mosca and seagladiator first
2 October 2018, 10:36
Welcome Daniel, but it may take a while.... The others (started already in this project) will be finished before I can start the zeros
8 October 2018, 15:41
Yep! For PE parts on 1/144 scale you'll likely need an electron microscope though. 😉
16 April 2022, 15:05
Thanks guys, but no microscope. Some magnification was used to check if belts were painted ok, but not much more. But my eyes are not as good as they used to 😛
16 April 2022, 20:33
That surgery on the cowling flaps may have given you nightmares, but it looks great.
10 May 2022, 17:00
thanks David. let's wait until it is painted. worse case scenario, they will have a lot more "used" look than intended 😄 but i hope all will be good
10 May 2022, 18:37
orange training zero is done. i still need to complete the others. and one of them will be also orange. i really like how it looks.
30 August 2022, 10:20
thanks Matthew, Huma and Ms K. i still need to finish the others.
30 August 2022, 14:53
It was his itsy bitsy teeny wheeny yellow orange-red dot Mitsumini👍👍👍
Great work spanjaard🤛
30 August 2022, 14:59
What a beauty!
My compliments for that, Spanjaard- two thumbs up 👍👍
30 August 2022, 17:28
Thanks. Wow, thanks a million for dropping by, really happy that you like it!
30 August 2022, 21:06
Yeah, I agree with Peter (it happens sometimes). That panel lining has me studying the pics closely. So clean.
31 August 2022, 03:37
thanks Peter and Greg, but to be honest a good deal of the merit has to go to Sweet. the panel lines in this model are the best i ever seen, specially in this scale. comparing it with my P38 from Minicraft, there is a world of difference in quality. Platz and Eduard (in that order) are good but not as good as this one.
i just added a good amount of florymodels black clay wash, let it dry, remove with a piece of kitchen paper, and it is done.
of course, you need to use very thin layers of paint, or those beautiful panel lines will easily disappear. and the decals from Shelf Odity for this particula version are quite good too.
31 August 2022, 11:11
talking about decals.... I see that I forgot to add the tiny red bands on the tip of the propeller blades!
and also did not paint the exhaust in burnt metal.
31 August 2022, 11:13
thanks a lot Alec 🙂 yes, i was looking for some colorful birds and when i saw the, i knew i had a perfect one!
31 August 2022, 13:03
How do you do lines on canopy? I have trouble even with bigger scale, they are so clean, its amazing!
22 November 2022, 21:41
hi Petar. I simply took tamiya masking tape (sheets, not tape, but it is the same material) and cut the pieces to the right size, by hand. once all in place, just painted it and removed the masking. bit of retouching was needed. manual masking is a bit time consuming for this scale, but for the other six zeros I have on my bench, I will do them with a Silhouette Portrait 3 I got after doing the first zero. I have done some testing, but i do not have the final masks yet. of course, masks can be purchased for many models, but i like to do things my own way 😛
22 November 2022, 22:19
Thanks man, so there is no magic way, Im just now doing canopy on F5 and for the first time Im satisfied with it, but it can be better, used tamiya tape also. I just googled silhouette portait, didnt know what it was, thats actually interesting. But, I will get those tamiya sheets haha 😄
22 November 2022, 23:05
No magic at all 🙂 there are very similar sheets from several brands actually
Masking sheets 145 x 200 mm (Decalcas DCL-MSK003, No)
Masking sheet A4 (AK Interactive AK8210, No)
Masking sheet (Eduard XF500, No)
High Quality Masking Sheets (Orlee 000147, No)
High Quality masking sheets by Apa (Orlee 000123, No)
1mm Grid Masking Sheets (5) .. Mig Jimenez A.MIG-8045, No)
And the list goes on and on.....
23 November 2022, 03:18
Wow, thanks for all the links, that's actually really helpful, next canopy I do, I'm gonna update you, especially if I pull out a good one 🙂 🙏
23 November 2022, 16:07
Happy ti help Petar, let me know how it goes
Thanks Gorby, well let's wait until the rest of the zeros are finished, maybe toy will like the two different (or 3) outcomes of this 🙂
23 November 2022, 19:49
welcome to the show Zbynek. I hope it will not disappoint you. let's see if I can get this part finished soon. it was started 7 years ago.....
1 7 August, 21:13
I'm pleased you are finally getting some time to work on these tiny wonders again mate. Looks amazing so far.
8 August, 06:21
Spanjaard, I can assure you that I have great understanding for a project lasting 7 years.
My 1/72 civilian Dakota project has been running, or rather crawling, for over 20 years. Yet the work slowly continues, it's not on ice...
9 August, 13:16
thanks Zbynek, the zeros are only a "by product" of the bigger flying circus project. I needed one zero for it but ended with 7....
you are reminding me of a couple of projects started about 28 years ago..... I need to get some time dedicated to them too 😄 😄
1 9 August, 15:11
thanks MS K and Alberto. mottling of picture 59 is now gone (there was a defect that was bothering me and I have to remove the paint job....) I will see if I can do it again this weekend. woukd be nice to finish all those zeros for once and for all.....
21 August, 14:11
Spanjaard, agree with the last line in above response. This project has dragged on for years now, getting impatient to see the next piece of brilliance from my Spanish Conquistador mate!
22 August, 00:52
I for one, think it was worth the wait. Amazing job. I love the training paint job too, so that makes it even better!
28 November, 14:41
thanks Greg, i have a second training orange zero pending to be finished, and the also the rest of the other to be place in the carrier deck.
