I just have received a 1/72 kit of Stipa and upon the quick inspection of parts the first impression is very good - according to the manufacturer the master parts were 3d printed. Parts are well cast - no bubbles, I have noticed only one flaw (easy to fill). Internal duct will need some sanding (and removal of the manufacturers' badge 🙁 ...) Windscreens are printed in clear resin and there are few PE parts. The wingspan in 1/72 is about 20 cm. As soon as I will find some spare time I will upload the "what is in the box" photo.

bughunter AuthorOh yes, that part separation was also here not along panel lines. This is not something to be proud of in my model. I should have paid more attention to the seams, especially because of NMF.

bughunter AuthorThanks for watching, but this bird is finished 🙂 Please see the final album on the project! I only wanted to show some important points of the build.
And I forgot to mention the weight: I added more then the suggested 10 grams. I don't know exactly, but I added also some ballast left and right of the front gear bay because I was out of space for more at the front. The front landing gear leg of my finished model now burdens the weighing machine with only 3 grams.
It is a nice kit, but in some aspects the little 1:72 brother is better.

There is a set in the database: T-50 weighted wheels (Royale Resin R115, 1:48) but that brand is out of business. As some parts seems to be common with F-16 or other jets, may be some other wheels fits here?

The info in the album is somehow not true, later ICM confirmed that they forgot something on the wheels. And yes, they liked my result and used it on social media (the finished pics attached as own album to the project here).

gorbyThanks for that Frank. I've always been interested in design and engineering so that was enjoyable to watch.
That video led me to this one. He waffles on for two minutes but the rest of the info is quite interesting. The company it focuses on is Airfix which has a, predictably, more old fashioned process.
I don't really believe so much time and care is put into quality control and the packing process.

bughunter AuthorA model builder from Switzerland broke the decal for the identification markings on the wing while building her Vega. She had received a new sheet of replacement decals from Dora Wings at the time (long before my build), so she had the stripes left over and was kind enough to send them to me 👍

bughunterThe sprue "AN/ALQ-184" is missing in the kit! There are two Sidewinder (sprue "AIM-9L") but the rails and mount parts 5 and 7 are located on the missing sprue 🙁 Also not shown in the parts list, but in the manual.

As I said, that original aircraft was my inspiration but my model is not a detailed replication. The kit is different in details and I had only decals for the 6024.

Innovative manufacturers such as Eduard are already working on appropriate procedures. The process itself is not new, and there is already literature on the subject, e.g. here (Please see the description about the many advantages!)

bughunter AuthorYeah, I painted it - but the used green looks much too military for my taste! I tried to fix it with another layer, but ant the end I washed the whole paint away.
MiniArt recommends Tamiya XF-05 for it, much that looks totally different compared to the 3D view in manual.
This week I had the chance to look in the other new MiniArt box "Military Service", the 3D view looks much different regarding the green shade compared to my instructions but the same XF-05 is recommended?!
I need to find a better green or mix my own.
But I will finish the Vega first, as I received today a letter with used spare decals - which fits to my needs 🙂

bughunter AuthorThat comes only into the list, if there is at least one spammer reported and wait for votes. If the spammer is kicked with enough votes the list entry is gone.
It is the same principle as with other filterings here - a empty element is not shown (e.g. if you filter for "Propeller" in "Category", the only "Aircraft" is displayed in "Group" as all other entries has 0 elements.
BTW: this album is used to explain my reports in "Feature requests". Many of them are fixed, so maybe I should delete those pics.

@Jennifer you are right! Nothing looks like wood like real wood 🙂 Because they were made of mahogany and there was no shortage of it in Great Britain, the individual layers here are made of the same wood.
@David Many, or more precise 9 Sopwith types are already in my cabinet. There are not much types left, where a kit in 1:48 is available. But at least Snipe, Baby and 1 1/2 Strutter are waiting in my stash.
