Thanks killoosh. As you may notice, I have a LOT of Tintin-based projects (also a fair number of Studio Ghibli ones). This kit is quite rough, but I'm trying my best.

The funny thing is that in the album, a (much smaller) train DOES hit the Model T stranded on the tracks... and then falls over. 🙂
That actually was part of my original plan... and maybe a future project too~

Oh my. Neither one of us would have survived that operation. This was one of those kits I was holding on to "until I'm good enough" to tackle. I doubt that day will ever actually come. For some kits you just have to say "let the water flow" and let it be what it will be. 🙂

Another scene from my favourite album. Strangely enough, the part I'm the happiest about is "Mrs. Wang". I had to model that figure completely from scratch and I think it turned out well enough for 1/72 scale at least.

I'm really pleased with how well the Janitor turned out. I had to model him myself. I did end up breaking the brim off his little hat and had to replace it with a tiny bit of polystyrene, but I don't think it's noticeable.

Yeah. They all look MUCH better with figures. With these latest two (the canoe and the German police motorbike w/ sidecar) I'm now down to my last previously finished project in need of an upgrade - the DHC Chipmunk. Since I got an updated kit (arguably better than the ancient Airfix one) I wanted to give that one another go right from the spures.

I'm hardly a prefectionist... but my collector instincts would drive me crazy every time I saw an oversized Tinitin on my shelf. I've actually spent quite a bit of time trying to determine the perfect 1/72 scale size of Tintin and his friends. It took a bit of trial and error, but I've more or less settled on it now. The trick to making sure all the figures are more or less the same is done by comparing the relative size of his egg-shaped head~

It looks so easy when you see the final result. But scrolling through the album gives a good idea of all the modifications and scratch build needed to transform regular kits to a Tin Tin cartoon tank. And the result would have made Hergé proud. Thanks for sharing the journey to the moon with us, Greg. Outstanding as usual

Famous last words. I got the decals on and just as I was putting the final touches on the A7M2, the support pole broke. While trying to get it to sit back inside the fuselage, I managed to snap one of the wires on the inside, next to the dc motor. So there was nothing to do but open up the patient and to a quick by-pass surgery. It was a terrifying game of "Operation"... don't touch the sides of the 1/144 scale fuselage, while soldering two tiny bits of wire together. Luckily, I was able to pull it off and the patient lived - albeit with a bit of a scar on the right side. At least that's the backside of the display pose.😉
I also managed to stick my fingers on the still wet base decal for the J2M2. What a stupid mistake! I spent 10 minutes carefully sliding the homemade decal in place, got it done and then put it aside to dry. Then, not ten seconds later! I grabbed it by the base and stuck my thumb right in the middle of it. A pain in the ass to reprint, but a mistake that's easily recovered from I guess. I will say I love my new 1/144 scale rigging thread. The radio antenna went on like a breeze and looks perfect.

Thanks Juergen! I actually did a slight update to this finished project when I dragged it out for new photos. You can't tell from the pictures, but when I plugged it in to take a video I realized that the DC motor powering the rotor was WAY too powerful. It was literally shaking the whole model. It might be realistic, but I was a bit afraid it might tear itself apart. So I added a bit of resistance to the circuit to slow it down to a more reasonable speed.

Thanks guys. I've updated the gallery here with the "final pics", but I've also update my personal blog - strobez.ca/wp/index...enco-flight-area-88/ - for anyone interested in getting the "behind the scenes" view on this build, as well as reading a few pages of the Area 88 manga that this build was inspired by.

The "gashapon" (a term I learned thanks to Greg) Buccaneer was one of those projects I was looking forward to, as to their resurrection and completion. And it turned out great. Superb action "glamour" shots... And (is it because of the contrast to the plane's dark color scheme?) the exhaust LEDs look great!

Thanks guys. Yeah... I'm starting to have second thoughts on the cotton cloud as well. I might just remove it. It doesn't quite work as I was expecting... and I have another little build that will make better use of it I think. 😉
