So I made this.
I purchased the files online, and I printed it out in 1/14 scale.
My only issue was, I went to the national show, here in the UK, and I learned a thing or two, from the guys!
In printing, I used High Speed Resin, because I wanted it quick. I know, I was stupid!
However, I've used the experience, and the measurements, for the real truck!
This time, I've done it in ABS-LIKE PRO. I gotta admit, I've fine tuned my machines and the resin is wonderful!
I'll get you guys more pictures, when time allows.

Sorry about the cat, but he loves to get involved in everything I do.
Currently remodeling the garden, and doing a million things in-between. I so long, for more bench time? It's easier on my back, hands, and wallet!

Very nice cab, and cat🤩
I also like to build the 1/14th scale Tamiya trucks and have quite a few of them in my stash. Not proper modelling you say? Can't agree to that. The possibilities with these kits are plenty, just last year I've built me a King Wrecker, combining the King Hauler kit with the Volvo wrecker, in the Can Do wrecker style. I'll post some photos of this beast on rcmates soon.

Sander, I'm now your biggest fan!
I tried to get on RC Mates, but it was directing me to all kinds of links?
Do I just agree to it and join, or am I being scammed? I can't see anything on there, not even newsfeed?
My 1/14 journey has been amazing. I started out with a Tamiya Grand Hauler, and now I'm uncontrollable!
Please advise???

I tried that mate, and it sent me to some crazy places, including Single Ukrainian women, in their 50's?
Obviously I'm hesitant, because I was looking for a rich American girl, in her 20's?

I love that dashboard. So much detail.

Please make sure that you use rcmates.NET. If you type .com you can end up with a long distance "relationship" with a fat scammer on the other side of the planet🙈

The newsfeed might still show up empty for you, not much is happening on there yet.

Gents, I appreciate ALL your help x. This album is really to share the Pro's and Con's, about 3D printing. I'm certainly no expert, and I'd love any kind of feedback? I'm here to show you guys, my experiences, and excitement, and flaws. What I've learnt in my journey, is it cancelled because both frustrating, and expensive, to screw up? But, if you've taken the plunge, there's no sense in quitting, it's about learning and perseverance.
I'll always be a lover of plastic, and once I understand myself, what and how I'm doing it, I'll make my own stuff, with the clever tools that are now available.
My wish is, that through my experience and with the help of my fellow scalemates, we can encourage you, the reader, that anything is possible!
All you need is determination and friends 🙂

Guys, I've got myself on RC Mates too. Thanks for all your help.
Sander, I know a guy who does the armour, that you're into, and he's got some interesting stuff going on! His wife has marks on her body, from friendly fire! 😛
I'm gonna keep this thread alive though, on here, because of my loyalty to you guys, and my passion for Scalemates. I hope you enjoy this journey 🙂

amazing 3D details, I am not a car modeller enthusiast, but that is beautiful

Great looking prints. I also got a 3d printer (Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra) but due to various issues my printing setup and my modelling bench are out of commission for now. Hope to get back on it soon.
I think it is a very useful addition to scale modelling, especially for 1/24-1/25 trucks that don't have many AM options. Teach yourself some CAD (I use Autodesk Fusion - the non-commercial version is free) and the world is your oyster. It took some time to get the basic of printing and CAD-ing but I was actually able to design and print a correct dashboard and other thingies to make my Italeri Mercedes 2448 more accurate. Not perfect or fully accurate but I am very happy with the results.
BTW, why you say that it is not "proper modelling"? I think it is. It requires similar set of methods and techniques and you still build something from separate components.

Goldman, I totally agree with you. To me, it's a way of getting what I want. I can scale up or down, chop and change, make things work? It's the perfect tool, for a custom modeller. I run an Anycubic M5s, an M5sPro and a Mono 4k. I also have an Anet filament printer, but I rarely use it now, due to space constraints. Used in conjunction with the Anycubic app and slicer, I'm happy with where I'm at. I've delved into a bit of CAD with various programs, but I've not taken it more seriously. Time is never on my side, because there's always something else that needs doing? I'd love to take it up as a job, but it's still a hobby right now.

I agree it and another layer to "scale modelling" another skill set to perfect with challenge's and problem solving, what's that engine block ? Boz
1  18 August, 23:49
Bozzer Author
That engine block is a Ford Cosworth V8 DFV, Mona.
In a smaller scale, you can print it solid, but it's quite heavy. This one, I had to hollow out. However, it's hard to tell where all the pockets of resin are? I also did the heads, and they looked great. After several months, they also split and leaked resin everywhere. Now that I'm aware of this, I can make holes to remove the resin, which can be left, or filled if chosen? I'll make them on the cylinder face, so as not to spoil the details of the engine.

Mona
you certainly do have some patience and problem solving skills, thought that was a DFV block .. 😉

Sander is teasing me with his RC Wrecker! I gotta admit, she's a beauty! After going to our National Show, I'd love to do an international show, in the future. I'm sure that there's other SM's, with similar interests?
 19 August, 20:22
Sander de Volder
Thanks mate.
I would like to learn more about those shows, there are a few in the Netherlands that I know of, but not a clue on how to get in? If it doesn't involve having to be a member of some club, I would be very interested in taking part in such shows.

the biggest event (that i know of) about modelling in the Netherlands, is in Veldhoven, close to Eindhoven. you can visit just buying a ticket. the contest is incredible, but it is mostly figures and then the rest of modelling variations. a majority of military modelling plus airplanes, ships and of course some cars and trucks, but those are a small fraction. you can present your models to contest paying some fee (check prices etc at scalemodelchallenge.com/). pity i will miss it this year. you have also Houten, very nice one too. much smaller contest. and of course several events in Belgium, and do not forget Lingen in Germany. i can really recommend that one too.

in UK, i can not say much, since i have never seen the events there, but the name that comes to mind is Telford. i am sure Bozzer can give some light there 🙂

Here, you just book your spot, pay your money, and turn up. I'm not in any club or anything? I took the Mrs, and the price was the same for both of us? In fairness mate, it was an excellent experience. I just wish my truck behaved better than it did? However, I think that I'm going down the right path now. I'm still learning about the different types of systems, and that's where I think that I'm going wrong?
1  19 August, 20:43
Sander de Volder
Spanjaard, I'm still a bit puzzled about the event in Veldhoven. Can I just buy a ticket, load up some of my models and show up to show them there?
 19 August, 21:02
Spanjaard
basically, yes. buy a ticket online or in the place. if you want models in contest, bring them, and pay the fee. you need to be aware that you need to bring them on Saturday morning, and you can not pick them up until Sunday end of day.
Admission fees

Single Day Ticket reduced fee: for juniors up to 14 years € 12 (online € 10)
Multiple Day ticket: € 20 (online €18)
contest fee per particpant
There is a standard fee per participant, regardless of the number of pieces you enter, and regardless in how many classes you enter them.
Pre-registration fee is € 12.50 per participant (User ID) and is only valid when paid online before October 6.
For registrations or payment made at the show, the fee is € 20 per participant.
Juniors participate free of charge

i have no idea how long it takes for the delivery of the models for contest (and pickup). but with a two or three thousands entries, i guess it takes a while 😉

This is just the prototype for my RC, and a little lesson on how things can go wrong. I'm hoping that this album will help and encourage others? However, I need to update it, now that things have calmed down a bit, here. I'll put my ALF High Rise in the album and you'll see what I'm talking about, Qwerty 😉

This is interesting! Not only because of the cat and your soon to be Ukrainian wife from whatever RC mates you checked out. I don't know anything about 3D prints but I got to know someone who is printing parts and car bodies for me. I find it a bit hard to work with compared to the usual plastic but it's probably about learning?
Anyway, I really want to see how your trucks turn out. In scale 1:14 it's almost big enough for Norwegian roads 👍

Hiya Yingy mate. Basically, I did this album for you guys. It's to help you understand what actually goes into all this? Some guys think that we print, it comes out, and that's it? Some prints can be that simple, but there's a lot more to it. Getting the settings right, is really a learning curve, and of course, each type of resin, and manufacturer, have their own settings. You also have to keep an eye on the room temperature and of course, your equipment. Sometimes, when I've got everything running, it's like Frankenstein's Laboratory, in my cave, lol! If you keep an eye on this album, I'll update it soon. The garden project is getting nearer to the end 🙂
