Just been looking at one of these for sale, on eBay. I had a crazy idea about putting an American hood on it and beefing up the front end? Maybe I should slow down on my daytime drinking?
Excellent build though, she came out perfect 👍

Thank you Bozzer. Don't know about Americanizing this bus (the rear will require work too) but if you want something different you can put it in a diorama with a cow (yes, really - lesmaquettistes.com/..-c2-heller-ref-80781) or if it has too much glass you can convert it to a first aid station as it was used in Paris during WW2 - 1-72.forumgratuit.or..te-de-secours-avance

Iveco, a fellow Italian company to Italeri, is a commercial vehicle manufacturer that was sold just last month to Tata Motors. The S-Way series was released in late 2019 and replaced the Stralis series. In general, it received positive reviews, especially being mentioned for good driving comfort, value for money and fuel consumption. Some noted issues were small and hard to read dashboard (which was improved in a later facelift) and a brake pedal that requires a lot of force to engage.
Personally, I still haven't had the chance to build the Stralis or this kit but based on the text on the box, Italeri updated the engine, suspension and chassis in addition to the modified cab so hopefully the model will be accurate.
The two-tones box-art schema is very attractive but will require careful masking. The large decal sheet also includes decals for a very nice, single color, B-version.
Small PE sheet includes the safety belts and buckles. PE belts are not easy to paint and to pose to look natural (fabric belts are much easier) but still a nice detail to add. Chrome stickers for the mirrors and logo and rubber tires are also included.
Again we get a top-of-the-line 4x2 version and I am not aware of any AM conversion to 6x2, 6x4 or any other option.

Another re-release by Italeri of an interesting truck and kit. The Renault AE500 (AE for AErodynamics and 500 for the engine output in HPs) was the first modern (COE) truck with a completely flat cab floor and it also included other innovations making it looks very different from all the other trucks of the early 90s and even today it still hold a unique look.
Technically, this model represents the first mark of this truck whereas the "Magnum" designation was only added by Renault to the second mark, released several years later, but today they are all collectively referred to as Renault Magnum so all good.
The kit itself is nice to build and, as far as I can tell, accurate. Just need to be extra careful with the large windshield. I don't know any AM options to convert it to 6x2 or 6x4 but since Renault used Mack and Volvo components adventuring modellers will probably be able to cobble something together.

Thanks, built the original kit as a kid. I am glad this one has rubber wheels because the original had plastic ones. Might even do a nostalgia build 👍

Thank you Alexander. You are correct - I forgot to mention that this release comes with vinyl tires instead of the original (rather awful) plastic tires.

One of Italeri first truck kits. Nice to build and very accurate except for the rear wheel hubs - better alternatives can be sourced from several AM dealers. Depicting the 14.2 liters V8 engine that become so recognizable with Scania. The "H" stands for the heavy chassis option (other options were M for medium and E for extra heavy). The 6x2 suspension with the trailing lift axle is well done too but requires work if the modeller wants to pose it in the up position.
The photo on the box art looks a little odd to my eyes without the sun-visor but fortunately it is included in the box. Also included is the fifth wheel and mounting plate.
The MSRP seems a little high considering the age of the kit but a box full of plastic and a nice and sizable decals sheet make it more understandable.

Very nice truck! The singles on the back are a nice touch. I've some experience with Italeri kits, some have warped chassis and/or bodyparts. Did you have any issues with that on this truck?
3 June, 18:46
Thank you Sander. Surprisingly not, just same fitting issues. You do need some care building the chassis ladder to make sure it is as straight as possible and not warped or twisted. The body panels and the hood in this kit were OK too. I did have a badly warp hood in Italeri Peterbilt 377A/E I built couple of years ago and the traditional warped front panel in the Italeri Mercedes SK I am building now though.

Another release of Italeri flat roof Volvo but with very striking paint scheme. Volvo "Performance Edition" is limited edition offered in 2016-2017 with many extras and options. Couldn't find how many of these tractors were offered but as far as I can find all were with XL cab and not with the low roof cab that Italeri chose. Strangle, the decal sheet does include the "DUAL CLUTCH" decals that should go on the side of high roof but have no room on the low roof version.
Italeri recommends Tamiya TS-44 for the blue but it looks too dark to my eye. Hard to tell from photos. Jens Lohse on Modellversium used Revell Enamel #50 (RAL5012) that looks closer.
Other "Performance Edition"-s were\are offered with different paint schemes so more interesting options are possible. Max-Model offers decal sets for these "Performance Edition"-s in addition to second option that comes with the kit.
Nothing new but a nice model with a really nice paint scheme and decals so over all a nice offering from Italeri.

This version of the MB Actros was created and sold in 2020 by Wensink, a MB dealer in the Netherlands, to celebrate Actros winning of the 2020 truck-of-the-year award. I was unable to find how many of these units were offered/sold.
The trucks were offered with almost all the options (including video mirrors whereas the box art shows standard mirrors) and a special painting of Selenite Grey Mango.
Details and a few photos can be found here (Dutch): ttm.nl/nieuws/fotos-..prix-edition/126633/

Thanks for the information - I love the scheme. I have the original launck kit and wonder what is the difference between that Giga Space and this Big Space...
19 March, 10:57
Thank Paul. Yes, lovely scheme.
The GigaSpace cab has 213 centimeters of interior height whereas the BigSpace cab offers just 195
Italeri (and Revell) offered both the GigaSpace and the BigSpace before in several kits each.

I had a look at those nifty angle setters too. They're a pretty clever invention, for what we do. Then I came across their laser cut plywood, and that's spurred me on for a proper flatbed? I've seen it done before, both great and badly, but when it's done right, the difference is amazing. I have a gooseneck build, in the wings, and again, they'd work for that too. Didn't even know that place existed, and I've been in York several times. Thanks for the heads up 👍

Yes Bozzer, I will use the stock genders. I think they fit the look of this old trailer well. I just need to find a way to fill the voids on the underside of the fenders due to the fenders brackets being moulded in place.

I'm gonna go on this ride, just to see how you handle it?
They should nickname this kit, The Will Wrecker!
1 17 January, 01:28
Thanks for the heads up Bozzer. Yes, I know this is a challenging kit, especially the seam around the cab.
My plan is to replace the rivets with Archer Fine Transfers rivets.
I wanted to start this kit instead of the Italeri Mercedes but my Freightliner is in the 75 anniversary boxing and I considered for some time to save it unopened in a hope it will be worth more in the future but I changed my mind again and will start working on it once the Merc is done.
Speaking of "The Will Wrecker" I am considering adding to it an A&N lift axle and using it to haul my Can-Do rotator I have laying around. I think "The Will Wrecker" will be a great name for a rotator\wrecker vehicle...
1 17 January, 15:39
I have a few of those wreckers, and I obviously plan on a Mack version. I also want to do a K100 version. There's lots of choices, so finding something else, that looks just right, kinda natural, is my next goal. I already plan several versions of the Mack R model. The wife thinks that I'm nuts, but it's better than sitting on a beach, drinking cocktails and getting red shoulders 😉
