I was kinda thinking about a metallic blue or maybe red? It's possible that it could also be a metallic green too? I'm currently getting ready for painting the frame and the engine. I'll get some more pictures tonight, for you guys. Can't wait to blow the dust off my airbrush 🙂

It's an awesome kit mate, and it's being re-released next year. Keep an eye out for it 😉

I intend to start off by spraying paper to get a good feel for my airbrush and then try to freehand something. My plan is to build a 1/14th scale Scania R620 with a low loader and a 1/16th Leopard tank to haul with it, so the scale makes camo a bit easier. I hope. Having it look feathered does give the most realistic result I think. I'm also considering using cardboard templates of wavy shapes to get a more natural look. I'll keep you posted!
Meanwhile your stash is growing nicely, but I would have never taken you for a Foxbody Mustang man! Looks like you are getting ready for some rainy autumn and winter days?
3 November, 19:10
Lol, I'm not really a Mustang guy, but the Fox Body reminds me of my old MK3 escorts? I've also purchased a lot of motorcycle kits. I plan to have a shelf dedicated to them. A lot of my 1/16 kits are basically loads for trailers. I'm hoping to do a car carrier, in the future? I still need to get my 1/14 trucks completed, but they might have to wait until spring, so I can take them outside. Definitely kit building weather here, now 👍

Before I take any flak, from my fellow Scalemates, what Englishman, doesn't own a model of an MG Midget?
13 September, 14:19
The smart ones that do not want to deal with finicky Lucas wiring.
1 14 September, 08:16
Better to own a model than the real thing, models don't have to start, the real thing just won't 😄
They call Lucas the king of darkness for a reason right?
Looks like a nice kit, especially in the larger scale.
1 14 September, 08:39
Near where I live, there used to be a Lucas Auto Spares shop. I remember going in, with my dad, and playing with the display, for the New Lucas Electronic Ignition System. Obviously I was a kid, and didn't understand what it was, but it was kinda cool! They also had another "Toy" that was some plastic gears, linked together, in a clear plexiglass box, with a handle you could turn. Inside was the famous Castrol Oil, that clung to the gears, as you turned the handle. Cool stuff, for a 7-8 yr old.

This is interesting! Not only because of the cat and your soon to be Ukrainian wife from whatever RC mates you checked out. I don't know anything about 3D prints but I got to know someone who is printing parts and car bodies for me. I find it a bit hard to work with compared to the usual plastic but it's probably about learning?
Anyway, I really want to see how your trucks turn out. In scale 1:14 it's almost big enough for Norwegian roads 👍
5 September, 06:23
Hiya Yingy mate. Basically, I did this album for you guys. It's to help you understand what actually goes into all this? Some guys think that we print, it comes out, and that's it? Some prints can be that simple, but there's a lot more to it. Getting the settings right, is really a learning curve, and of course, each type of resin, and manufacturer, have their own settings. You also have to keep an eye on the room temperature and of course, your equipment. Sometimes, when I've got everything running, it's like Frankenstein's Laboratory, in my cave, lol! If you keep an eye on this album, I'll update it soon. The garden project is getting nearer to the end 🙂

Mona, you kinda lost me on that one?
I'm doing what a good guy does, and the Mrs is coping. Blood transfusion went well, and she's perky. Still not sure what's going on with her internally, but the consultants are having a meeting on Tuesday, to discuss the way forward. Other than that, I'm still busting my nut, trying to keep things together? I did get a little time yesterday, to assemble some bits and figure out some issues with my Mack RC? It was nice to do something normal. Hopefully, I'll get back into the swing of things again, very soon?
Hope you are well, good buddy, and I appreciate you checking in xxx
What's on your bench, badass miss???

apple cider .. a Tiger on the desk, mild weather house cleaning fun but Hoping your Mrs gets better sounds scary and way too much stress to enjoy a hobby and keep your wits without breaking or misplacing parts

I keep getting the urge to build my 1/16 Sherman. I've also started looking at that Andy's Hobbies 1/16 half-track! I think that I'd better do the Sherman first though, because it's a huge box and it takes up a lot of space. 🙂

Nearly forgot...
Here, there's been frequent sales of Can Do and Will Do wreckers. The prices are sky high! I was almost tempted to sell one of mine? However, I remembered why I had them, so I'm keeping them for future builds. On a boring note, I'm picking up the slack with the extra chores, while "the uvver arf" is still poorly. Mopping the bathroom and kitchen floors, before going out to finish a side job, is very labour intensive. However, the several cans of lager, when I got home, worked like a charm, with a nice fire going, in the fire pit 😉

You Euro boys might appreciate that one. I gotta admit, I see some tasty artwork, on some of the trucks I see, while cruising through England and Wales.
29 June, 07:46
@ Mona. AITM did both. However, they're not cheap! These days, Resin is the best way to go. I think that you can get a file for around $50-$60 and then of course, you need it printed.

That should work for you, brother. I believe the quality is equal or better, than what Jerry did, however I've not used them myself, as of yet? When I heard about jerry retiring, I literally spent a couple of hundred bucks on decals and shipping. It took him a while to get everything to me, but the wait was worth it. Let me know how you get on with the new guy, because feedback is good for everyone? 🙂

I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think that it's a reissue, mate?
Even more distressing, I only bought the kit, for the decals. It's literally just landed on my doorstep, and I plan to gift the truck and trailer to a buddy of mine. I have a future build that needs a decal for the trailer, and this one is perfect for the job.
27 May, 03:31
Both the truck and the trailer are re-issues of 80s kits. I checked the instruction booklet and they don't look bad but do show their age. The decals look awesome but I built the Heller Parisian bus not long ago and the decals in that kit were very thin and a little transparent so some care is required while applying them.
I also hope that Heller changed their plastic since the plastic they used on the latest re-release of the Parisian bus was awful. Very soft and most of the parts were badly deformed

I've always wanted this trailer, but every attempt I've made, has ended up in failure. From trying to scratchbuild it myself, to actually purchasing a resin version, from someone else. Then I came across this resin print. Obviously, I paid for the print, which was a very reasonable price, and began printing. The image I've used as the header, was my first print. I eventually reprinted the whole thing, again.
11 August 2024, 07:50
Watching closely. I'm very interested in how you prepare the printed pieces for painting. I'm trying to build some 3d-printed aircraft using clear resin and I don't know how to prime/paint the resin. I'd love to know what you did on those tires - they look really good!
As for making parts truly transparent, I found a few youtube videos that show some very impressive results. I'll dig them up and post the links here later.
1 24 April, 12:03
I found the clear resin, was better to glue together, whilst still uncured. It slightly distorted when I cured it, as a single piece? But I've played around with a lot of resin, and to make the clear resin, clear as glass, I've not figured out yet? Any tips are welcome, buddy 👍

Here are those links. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet but the finished products look impressive in the videos.

Personally mate, I'd rather save the money and take my chances in Europe? It's much bigger, and harder to be found? Our Border forces, are known to be extremely thorough. Europe is huge, and there's many places to go? For me though, it would have to be America. Those guys are far more hospitable, than us Brits.
