Yea I'm really disappointed with this kit. For all the detail Tamiya put in, You only get the flaperons and rudders molded in the drooped/ powered off position, which locks you into one look. They give you options for things like the arrestor hook down and the inflight refueling probe out but won’t give the most basic option of having control surfaces neutral for in-flight or ready-for-takeoff builds. It honestly feels lazy and half-thought-out, especially when the F-35A and B kits give you the choice. Instead of enjoying the build, I’m stuck trying to hack and modify parts just to make the jet look correct. For the price, this is unacceptable

Dawg I ain't tryna completely crap on the kit because it's a really good kit and I am eventually getting another to have powerd off and at that time I made that comment i was frustrated with it. I'm just simply stating that if you want to have it taking off or flying you'll have to modify some pieces and that I think its stupid that they lock you into one look

Can this be completed "in flight"? Looking at the instructions it looks like the answer is no, but not sure if the doors can just be affixed in the closed position

the main gear doors can be closed with little work. the nose gear doors fit better than on the F-35A, but would need a lot of work to close up nicely. the big issue is the clear part that forms the forward edge of the gear bay and EOTS lens. both the gear doors and the clear part need some serious trimming.

however all of the control surfaces are fixed in the parked position (flaps down, rudders toed out) and there's no real way to change that with the kit parts as they are.
