Oh, it's nice to see the Italian variant. I want to build the Norwegian F-35. How many build kits do you have in storage? I display my built kits, but then my cat destroys them all. 🙁 I might have to do something similar: store everything.

Eric Thornton not sure how many i have in storage at this point! i have a fair bit of display space, but i build a lot so i'm always running out of room, so the older/less cherished ones end up stuffed into a large plastic storage bin in the attic with a bunch of packing material to keep them safe.

i have recently started going through them and scavenging for parts to re-use on other builds tho.

Not surprised this one took home a gold, it's a beautiful Rafale. I'm like you, not a big fan of weathering with oils, at least with aircraft. Mainly it's an enthusiasm issue for me because once you start, you're kind of committed to doing the whole airframe as it would look out of place to only have certain parts weathered with oils. It is subtle for sure, but only in comparison with the overall paintwork...places without it would stand out! But that being said, after seeing your results here, I will have to give it a go (on a smaller subject, ha!) because it really makes the model "pop" for sure.

Thank you also for the quick review of the kit. I wouldn't consider a Revell kit of that era to be that good. If I need a Rafale I'll consider this one, not that I need to add to the stash.

Personally, I find the paintwork very vibrant and interesting, even if the original isn't as weathered. The overall impression is what counts, and it's absolutely spot on. If it were replicated exactly as it is in the original, it would look rather boring! I think the model is really great!
