...very well done....clean and fun to look at....a hybrid ship is a rarity....rigging is precise and thorough....
the kits suggestion for rigging might be too large....it overwhelms the ship a bit....can you take photos that have more lighting on the hull?...there is separation there but the photos don't bring it out....

The kit offers thread, but this is white and you have to paint it. Besides, it's very difficult to get them tight. I built the Victory using the provided thread, but this is not as tight as the Great Western. So this time I used thin elastic cord. It's also less vulnerable. But I agree, there are a lot of wires. In fact I tried to think how a real sailing ship would look like.
What do you mean with your remark bout the hull? What separation do you mean?

.....great work....i meant the water line change of tone on the hull...it is there but hard to see in these photos....
....err on the side of overexposure and bring it back with any photo editor....it is known as "exposing for the highlights" in the world of digital photography...that way the highlights have good texture but the shadows are full of light...easy to manipulate with a simple exposure change in the photo editor of your choice....

The bortom of the hull was often covered with copperplates. I saw this on the Victory in Portsmouth. She also had copperplates on her lower hull, but as these oxidise rapidly, they turn copper green. But the hull was also covered with some kind of black coating, all to prevent all kind of things growing to the hull. I removed some of the black paint on several places, like I saw on the Victory. As to the colour, I think I used Vallejo 71.056, panzer grey.
Another remark on the use of copper: this is also frequently used on church spires, but almost never you see the bare copper, but coppergreen instead.
I agree, it's always difficult to get a correct exposure of a dark hull. I didn't have much time when taking the photos. I used a small photobooth with various backgrounds. I think I will try a black background some other time. I once did this with a Mercedes Actros, which also was black. Much to my surprise it stood out much better with a black background, than with the white one.
