Nice colours. I used to use the pencil for "washing" sometimes too (and even more often for correcting it)

...its very hard to get a good line in white paint....the pencil trick works well....Future will be used on this model from this point on for gloss overcoats because panel lines are done....Mission Models Gloss was used as a base for the panel lines....but it is getting hard to find and there is a ton of Future here...

....a descent into spray cans was necessary...but now i can really investigate the finishing....the paint is "gassing out" now...it will need to dry for 2 days....

...note to self...if you use a water based gloss coat...it will be dissolved when you go to remove your water based panel line "ink" made of water, detergent and paint...works fine with other overcoats...i forgot this one...back to Mission Model or Microscale Gloss....just licking a q tip with saliva was enough to take the overcoat and the paint under it off...not too bad here....it can be repaired....but Future may not have a future if panel lines are needed...

...looking at the real thing...there aren't any panel lines at all at 1/72 scale or even much at 1/32 if its ever made...there is a real difference in bringing out a panel line and bringing out the junction with a horizontal stabilizer or wing slat...they have a real boundary.....this little 50 year old mold is going to have way out of scale "panel lines"...

...no way....this thing is ruff around the edges...the interior braces didnt work and the rigging spots are a mess....it can be a good result but this has to be the test run....stay tuned....

You're too harsh to yourself, LR 😉 Some time ago I built the 1/72nd scale incarnation of I-15 from ICM, and I remember that I had to guesstimate the location of wires too...

...its the interior struts that were the real issue....way too big and threw the wing out of whack....so now there is a single out of scale strut there...as a placeholder....lots of learning on this test run...

Thank you all!....those wires lasted about as long as the photo shoot before they were jumping out of place....they are from the kit and had a real bend....easy replace.....

...experience shows three coats of anything you really want to be 100% with acrylics....this kit was a blast to paint....the edges on the fuselage and the wheels are hand painted.... the middle was airbrushed...

...a firm commitment has been made to this ship....but....a ship model can be complex with all the PE coming up, etc...so a break...but...this will get its mojo back soon enuff...

Absolutely agree 100%. I'm at the end of my 1/350 Indianapolis and I'm drained. Decent kit, but I have two full sheets of PE on it already and the rails and rigging or plane haven't been started yet. I built this one in subsections to keep interest, but it has been a longer journey than I anticipated. For example between PE and plastic each gun is 10+ pieces and on a Cruiser that's a job in itself. I'm sure I will be pleased when all is said and done, but yes, a break from ships is in order.

....Gracias!!....cool little kit...as usual...windows are my weakness...but its a fun build and a bit of scratchbuilding challenge once all the braces for the engine needed to be done...and the unusual wire frame in the rear for prop protection....but it was easy....thanks again....

somehow...this first Metal Earth project chosen was in the "Challenging" category....and it was......but, armed with a cool new set of pliers from Micro-Mark...the next Metal Earth kit will be awesome (i hope)

...this was supposed to be a quick effort....except the "1/48" scale aftermarket decals for this plane were actually 1/72 and new decal stripes had to be cut....its a good kit and easy to build....

....this poor fellow has some scars from twice being dropped on or otherwise seriously abused...this is actually the third rigging of the wings....its rough in spots for sure...but i love this model.....its widely available in 1/72 but this is a rare 1/48 version with the pods.....the 1/48 version with skies is easy to find though....very good moldings from ICM...

....for now, i hope a safe place has finally been found for this favorite model....
