I don't usually comment out-of-my-braille-scale stuff, but this description got me hooked. Pure reading pleasure 🙂

What I do on Tuesdays with my hamster is none of your damned business.
Honestly, this looks great and I like your perspective on things. As far as historical accuracy goes, I say stop building when it stops being fun. Some people enjoy the research and rivet counting, some don't. Sometimes we forget (I am super guilty of this myself) that this is a hobby, and that it probably shouldn't cause us crippling anxiety over historical accuracy.
The googly eye is my favorite thing ever.

If I wouldn't have read the description I would have assumed this was a perfectly legitimate and historically accurate build. We all know they leave out the good stuff in the books! This is the best part of model building here. The fun part! 🙂

I like the windows most! Thanks for the story, Gorby! It put a smile on my face! 🙂

Thanks for your relies mates – they gave me damn good laugh. 👍
Someone on another site that will remain nameless (it's a big British one if your interested) said "Always base your model on actual evidence" to which I replied that I thought it was a hobby rather that a job with social responsibilities. My Roland and it's 'history' is my reaction to that sort of madness.
I've never had a problem if people want to take glueing bits of plastic together seriously, but it doesn't sit well with me telling others that they need to do the same. I've tried being serious about it myself, but I find it so much more entertaining being ridiculous.
If the introduction amused you, there is much more silliness in the build report.
Thanks again - made my day. 🙂

As tribute to this build, I swear to put curtains in at least one window of a future build.
4 November 2019, 15:58
I already included some sort of curtains in my current project, though not that distinct 😄
Fully agree w/Gorby - I don't like whifs too much, but who am I to forbid it?😉
4 November 2019, 16:01
After mentioned twice I have to comment too😉 I found it very nice that my models seemed to serve as inspiration, including animation to create a wooden propeller! And with breaking your unwritten rule you seems to had some fun.
And may be most important: now you REALLY know what it means to build and rig a biplane😎
4 November 2019, 16:30
Thanks for your relies mates – they gave me another good giggle. 🙂
Bughunter: Your WWI crown is safe from me (for a very, very, very, very long time to come) I love the look of the early aircraft and they aren't as difficult to build as I thought (I did choose a simple one) though I don't think there will be any more from me for quite some time – but you're builds are an inspiration mate. 👍
I lost my mojo a bit part way though the build, but then I just decided to have fun, the mojo returned in full.
I wanted to paint little pink bunnies on the curtains, but my painting and my eyesight isn't good enough. 🙁
4 November 2019, 17:43
i really like it!!! great job on the wood specially. and lovely opening story 😄 😄
6 November 2019, 16:34
Thank's very much Spanjaard. 👍 🙂
I forgot to say that I did this build at the start of this year, but only just got around to sorting out the failed album. 🙂
6 November 2019, 17:35
Enjoyed that! Love the curtains and googly eyes. But I think you should have painted the herring a red color.... just say'n
6 November 2019, 17:56
Thanks Tom, that made me laugh. 🙂
That's good idea. I might have to rename the little fish – it previously 'the grinning kipper'.
7 November 2019, 15:14
Yep share your WW1 thoughts, I too steered well clear in my 70s/80s original hobby expeditions of these kits too and would only ever make anything but a kite for the same reasons. Love the post and think the build looks spectacular indeed as does everything else I've just scrolled through on your page too - impressed. I shan't mention an immenent psb concert I'm off to. Ha! Ha!

Not wishing to be a "history nazi", but the curtains aren't as outlandish as you might think:
wingnutwings.com/ww/..uctid=3110&cat=1 (second row, seventh image) 👍
The googly eye, on the other hand... 😉
16 November 2019, 20:29
Thanks mates. 🙂 👍
Nigel: The curtain decals came with the kit. The googly eyes were an after-market resin detail update set because I wanted to go that extra mile to make it as (in)accurate as possible – very, very expensive, nearly 50p for 50!!!! So I've got plenty more in my googly-eye stash. I wonder what a Stuka would look like with googl……😉
17 November 2019, 09:38
👍 🙂
It certainly won't be, but it may be the last one with wings, at least for quite some time to come. The build I did after this, was a WWI tank. You don't have to rig those.😉
19 November 2019, 10:45
hehe 🙂 rigging those biplanes is a zen like experience - at least for me. If you ever get that craving again, I highly recommend trying something from WnW. They build beautifully. Just saying - no pressure :-D
19 November 2019, 13:07
I love the fishy so much. Great build of a great subject! Don't forget, it's the GREAT war.
19 November 2019, 18:19
Beautiful build - especially slide #9 - I vote to keep that bulging eye! Given the flawless build, I would have to wonder if this really is your first and last bi-plane build!
17 July, 17:57
Thanks Capt. This is quite an old build so I can confirm it is still my one and only WWI biplane...and will stay that way. 🙂
For some reason my albums have gone into a weird order with my older stuff at the top and new stuff at the bottom. I asked Tim but didn't get an answer.
I've noticed that the Album info has been cut off in it's prime. I'll put that back as it should be.
Thanks again mate. 🙂
1 18 July, 06:43
Woops, missed this one. Very nice. The eyes seem to follow you. . . . . .. . . Everywhere 😳
19 July, 22:47
Thanks Volker and Neuling.
This is an old one - for some reason the order of my albums is screwed up with most of the old build at the top and my latest builds at the bottom. Which I find annoying.
27 September, 08:15
Another options are go via Projects and use the filters on the side, e.g. "Completed" and finished "2025".
Or click on the "Wall" of an user - there you see the albums in timely order, sorted by newest comments.
1 27 September, 11:18
Even if there is a better way to do it, I think most people go to 'Albums' to see previous builds, I tend to myself, which is why it's frustrating that I can't order them.
27 September, 13:29
"Collections" help a bit with narrowing down to a given album but I don't think a lot of people use them. I think they are alphabetical.
1 6 October, 00:08
Thanks David.
I must admit I forget about collections Ben. I've set up a couple but I life has too many distractions for me to remember to keep them updated and as you say, not many people use them.
Please Tim, please let us be able to order 'albums'. 🙁
6 October, 06:00
Nice to see this great build pop up again. And I agree, ability to sort albums would be great.

Hi Guys, I's more funny to make a first world war plane than a plane issued from the second one.
That's my thougts of course....
It's perhaps due to the "general bird aspect" of them.
Great works Gorby 🙂
This plane was called "Whale" due to his form, Mercedes engine motor.
It's was a famous one, due to his specific drawings, 35 victory during WWI by the way .... 😉
1 10 October, 22:58
Check Wikipedia gorby, the story of this famous plane is very interesting. It's a little bit like the famous "Red Baron" 😉
