In picture 3 you blanked off a fuselage panel (and some fasteners near the tail) are those specific French alterations?

@Patrick Hagelstein: no, there was some sink marks and surface defaults, so I applied surfacer on specific areas.

Nice start, it's always good to see a French crusader.
The academy kit was one of the most enjoyable kit I've had the chance to build, I hope you'll have a great time as well.

@Clement: yes, the Academy kit is quite fun to build, but there are (few) irritating flaws... flashs sinks on several parts of the airframe (especially on the wings) and a not so good cockpit. But that's ok I guess, there is room for improvement, and the panel lines and the assembly are just great.

I agree with Guido here; that's a very nice cockpit! Especially since it's OOB. 👍🏼

Off to a good start! I like the Academy F-8 too, nice kit with a few warts. Interested to see how your French Crusader works out

Folding wings, a jet engine and a tailhook. And if that's not enough it's also French! I'm in....
Nice work so far

I noticed that you fixed the radar scope on the instrument panel, which in the Academy kit is slanted like the F-8E prototype but was actually flat facing in all other F-8Es, like how you corrected it. What was your solution? Looks great.

@Rando: thanks for your comment. I have cut, the whole radar scope, kept a thin slice (with the scope on it), and glued it on a section of thick plastic card.

That's a great idea, I remember I did some kind of hack job but it was nowhere near as good a solution as this. Definitely doing this next time—thanks for sharing!
