This kit was made in 1963. I purchased it off eBay and it was still sealed.

I'm in for this. I love old kits.

The decals are shot -you'll need new ones. My experience with ones this old is the glue won't work properly.

@Ben Yeah, I came to that conclusion after thinking about it. If the sunlight could really fade the yellow it would also fade the colors. What started out as an okay deal now is costing me more than the 2025 rebox of this kit that Airfix is releasing in September. But I guess it's all part of the challenge and I do like the box art and knowing that the kit is essentially as old as I am.

You should be able to print your own decals if you have an inkjet, or even just paint the roundels and fin flashes, no decals needed. The spares box could possibly provide some letters/numbers.

Those decals wouldn't be too hard to print. You could scan them to provide the template and work them up in something like Inkscape. I did my first custom decals a little while ago for a Diamond D42 in CTC training livery and then a model of my old Cherokee. I did the first ones with some trepidation but they worked well first time. You just have to put several coats of thin varnish on them and handle with care, I found. The good thing is that if they break up or fail, you just reprint them. The rest of the kit looks great. I think I built one when I was a kid at the age of about 9. It would have been a brand new kit then! Good luck with it.

Fine result - particularly when putting into account the base from which you started.
For the hidden picture album contest I go for pic 18. 😉

I totally agree with Michael, the result is absolutely fine and also hard to be predicted considering the starting point. 👍🏻

The kit looked very crappy, but you turned it into an appealing model. 👍

@Michael: Pic 18 - Doh! So that's where the picture of my work in process on the Bristol Blenheim went! I'll remove it.

Thank-you all for your encouraging comments and support. I noticed in my haste to get this off my bench I forgot to clean the side windows along the fuselage. What to you guys think? Clean them or leave them?
