Commenti
This Panther G kit offers incredible detail and a wide range of modeling options—but be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart. Between the punishing photoetch and the vague instructions, this build will challenge even seasoned modelers.
The quality and finish of the parts are excellent, and the construction of the components is impressively intricate. However, the instructions often lack clarity, requiring careful study to determine correct part placement and selection. Some particularly frustrating areas for me included the engine deck assembly, properly installing the suspension, and choosing the correct exhaust configuration.
The tracks were especially taxing. Each link needs to be cut, cleaned, and assembled with a razor-thin margin for error. Applying glue is a delicate balancing act—too little and the pins fall out; too much and you fuse the links together. In my case, it was often both.
One major caution: the drive gear sprockets can be assembled with the teeth misaligned, which will prevent the tracks from fitting at all. Double-check alignment during this step, or you’ll be in for a serious headache.
Another gripe—some of the features advertised on the box and in the manual are misleading. The kit references both rubber and steel roadwheels as well as a metal cable for the recovery tools. In reality, it only includes enough parts to build either two steel wheels or two rubber-tired wheels—not full sets of both. They’re fine if you’re doing a teardown or maintenance scene, but if you’re aiming for a fully detailed build, this comes up short. And the “metal cable”? It’s just a length of black string.
That said, if you're planning a build with open hatches, interior detail on display, or a maintenance/repair diorama, this kit has the potential to really shine. The level of interior detailing is well-suited for that kind of presentation.
If that’s not your goal, though, I’d suggest looking at a different kit—or at the very least, plan to invest in aftermarket tracks. Given the difficulty of assembly and the finicky results of the stock tracks, they’re practically a necessity.
