In case anyone's wondering since there doesn't appear to actually be an E-variant of the BMP-3 anywhere - this model appears to be of the rarer BMP-3 with a Vesna-K sight. The tell-tale is the second optic installed outboard of the standard 1K13-2 or newer Sozh sight It can be made into a standard BMP-3 using the unused parts on sprue D, or even into the newer vehicles refitted with the Sozh (single optic on the roof, IR beamer in place of the original IR spotlight) sight using aftermarket/spare parts or by scratch-building the PL-1 IR beamer.

And on the exact same wiki page, the top image (the one that has the 2 guys saluting) has the unditching log off to the side. If you look closely, the mounts for it are hinged. I'm speculating here, but maybe the idea is to clear the arc for the turret on that side, but .. I may be between "wrong" and "very, very, VERY" wrong on that front.
Edit: Thinking about it more it could be something as simple as to keep the vehicle narrow enough that it fits properly on train cars or trailers). *No clue*, tho and when I look up BMP-3 pictures, both positions seem to be in use (both for parade/training and for combat)

Question please! Do ANY of the Trumpeter 1:35 BMP-3 models include the extended air intake tower shown on the box-top of this (and the South Korean version, which I have - without the intake tower). None of the current published reviews appear to make any mention of it!
