Personal Interest: I was stationed at McConnell AFB in 1989 for ROTC training camp. The Kansas ANG operated one of my favorite aircraft since my childhood from there, the F-4 Phantom II. The 127th TFS was responsible for training US and Allied pilots new to the F-4 platform.
Model Specifications: This model represents a F-4D of the 127th TFS as of 1989. This F-4D (Serial 66-0271) was used by Lt Col Carl G. Bailey and Capt Jeffrey S. Feinstein to shoot down two MiG-21 aircraft over Vietnam in July 1972. It was transferred to the Kansas ANG in 1979 and decommissioned in 1989.It was painted in the Euro I camo scheme used in the mid- to late-1980s.
