In 1957 de Havilland Firestreak (nee Blue Jay) succeeded the brief Fireflash (nee Blue Sky - that was only in service for a year, presumably why no-one's bothered to make a kit of it, that's pretty niche) into service, bringing cutting edge vacuum tube tech missiles to the Javelin, Sea Vixen and Hunter. The combination of ammonia coolant and rocket fuel meant it was so toxic ground crew had to wear protective gear to load it.
In 1964, the (de Havilland now called Hawker Siddeley) Red Top entered service, now ushering in the era of solid state electronics in the form of transistors (meaning the end of the dodgy ammonia coolant of Firestreak) onto the Sea Vixen, Hunter and the new kid on the block, the English Electric Lightning.
