As a young boy, I built the Great Western in 1/440. When I visited Airfix Experience my wife discovered this model of the Great Western.
After finishing the Victory and the Endeavour, this will be my last ship with sails, I got some extra info from Airfix regarding the bobbins with cotton, which I share here:
The Bill of Materials points to two bobbins, 0.3x100m and 0.6x20m, from this the one with more (bobbin 1) would be fine cotton. The "fine string" is only for the anchor and the steering gear at the back (not included). For the rigging, the bobbin with the most string on is for the solid black line in the instructions (fine cotton) and the one with less on is for the dashed line (double cotton).
