Another pretty full on weathering job. At first glimpse it might seen a bit "overdone", but it was in fact modeled on a real vehicle.

Tim, another great build. Congratulations. What type of clear varnish did you use? I'm looking for one that is actually matt and not semi-matt.

Great result. Love the way the colors blend and the country stickers on the inside.
@skyhiker: I've been on the same quest and finally settled for AK Ultra Matt Varnish, which really is - well - matt. Not having had their thinner I figured that the varnish can be diluted with Vallejos Airbrush Thinner 71.361 with good results. Maybe that helps.

Thank you Skyhiker and Michael for your nice comments. I used Mr.Color GX-114 Super Smooth Clear Flat which is a lacquer. It is indeed very matt. I thin it approx 1:1 with TAM lacquer thinner and apply with an airbrush. It is best done in a couple of thin layers as if you put it on too thickly you can get a little of the whie-powdering haze. These days if I want to use an acrylic alternative I use Vallejo Mecha Color 69702 Mecha Matt Varnish (17 ml). I highly recommend this for flat finishes. It is very matt and it cures to a hard shell which is very tough. I hope that helps 🙏

Thank you Dave & Mr James. I really do enjoy heavy weathering. Really though it hides the fact that I am incapable of turning out a decent, high-gloss factory finish. Maybe I'm just lazy 🤣

thanks Tim for detailing your varnish products and techniques. I hoped I would find such detailed information about the applied weathering technique in your build log, but as I could not find it there I would appreciate if you could elaborate a bit on it too.

Thanks Michael, Here is a basic run down on how I painted the combi:-
1. Basecoat of AK Rotbraun.
2. Build up Light blue colour (AK3146 3rd Gen German Grey Uniform Lights) with a sponge (like sponge chipping). Then increase the opacity with drybrushing.
3. Sponge AK3144 German Grey Shadow.
4. Sponge AK3073 Red Brown, mostly on the rust areas.
5. Sponge MiG 0043 Shadow Rust, on rust areas and also back over the blue paintwork.
6. Dry BrushAK3146 3rd Gen German Grey Uniform Lights.
7. Sponge AK RC-011 Blue on the bottom of panels, in corners etc.
8. Dry brush AK3146 3rd Gen German Grey Uniform Lights over RC-011 Blue areas
9. Sponge AK3146 3rd Gen German Grey Uniform Lights randomly.
I have added an image at the end of the gallery which outlines the products used 👍

Interesting. You build up the colors, not wear it down by putting on several layers and grind them down then. Thanks for elaborating.
