...the actual car will get a 2.0 liter engine from a later MKII version that basically bolts in....and GTI seats if they work or even aftermarket...big brake kit....front end and suspension rebuild....all this after the trip to the body shop....sooooooo....

.....first i have to get a pile of money THIS high....not gonna do this piecemeal so it all has to be done at once...

....its in storage now...so...it stays dry....

...the Italeri kit was chosen because its a real Golf not a GTI....and the actual car is a "Rabbit" as it was called for years in the US....the Italeri kit is old and uses molds from 1978....the later Revell kit is the kit of choice now but it does not have the little side windows the Rabbit had....

....many Italeri kit compromises....like either having black or silver trim but not both....the door handles are molded in....nice decals though....

....did i mention the kit is old? ....this is actually an Esci kit from the 1970's...that is 50 years ago now....gotta say...i do like the one piece window....a blessing for us canopy challenged....

....a descent into spray cans was necessary...but now i can really investigate the finishing....the paint is "gassing out" now...it will need to dry for 2 days....
