There is a famous old picture, which looks _nearly_ like this.

Today I had some luck with nice weather for pictures of my new finished project.
For more information please see the album description.

Beautiful model! Beautiful photos! (long time ago I completed my 1/72 Gloster Pioneer from Special Hobby in the same "livery" 😉 )

Thank you mates!
@Danumurthi May be you will see it more often now. After the very nice kit of Clear Prop also Special Hobby re-released their 1:48 kit to get a piece of the cake. But I would still go with Clear Prop fro good reason 😉
@Robert I was only aware of Special Hobby's 1:48 scale kit. From Clear Prop there are two kits in 1:72, the Expert seems to be really great. Really pity not (yet?) in 1:48.

Another well done jet from Franks workbench - congratulations for the result. 👍

WOW, fantastic!
I only sold my Pioneer last Sunday - which wasn't anywhere as good as yours Frank. Incidentally, I currently live about a mile away from where Frank Whittle was born.

Danke Jens!
Yeah, you know Clear Prop is from Ukraine and needs our support (and creates great kits).
And we inherited several kits from a deceased member of our club, and from one of the boxes I found a small flyer in which he had carefully glued photos of the original. He probably wanted to build the machine in 1:72 scale, but never got around to it. So I've done it now.

Looking forward to the Junkers F.13 and the Tiger Moth, now that this spectacular one is out of the way 😁

gorby, have not seen your answer yet - Thank you mate! You live in a historic place! Is there a plate on the house or museum?
I assume your Pioneer was only not that good because you haven't been able to use the Clear Prop kit yet.

Thank you Kenneth! That is the problem with too many parallel projects 🙁 But every now and then, something does get finished. Today, however, I really got stressed out again because I really wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather for the photos, but the model wasn't ready yet.
I must also admit that this project is not quite finished yet.

gorby, you mean this house? I found the photo on Wikipedia:

Mine wasn't very good because it was one of my early builds and also because it was the Special Horror kit. No doubt the Clear Prop is miles better.
Frank Whittle's birthplace is a tiny terrace house and still used as a house not a museum.

Yesterday I mentioned in the answer to Kenneth, that this project was not finished: the engine was not yet complete.
Now the engine was finalized, so I could take some pictures with light tent of engine and plane. I will put it in my cabinet side by side.

Thank you very much Christoph!
I have not made many pictures during this (nearly oob!) build, but I added some pictures to another album attached to the project.

Wow! Too much "you snooze you loose" going on around here lately... outstanding build Frank, and secreted for so long! What paint is the NMF?

Thank you very much for your comments mates!

@Alec What paint? A "s" is missing, many paints! I painted the whole surface with Xtreme Alu after black primer, then some panels with Alclad alu. Some areas and details with Xtreme White alu, some panels and mainly the back area of the fuselage (because of heat) with Xtreme Dur alu. The gear bays are Xtreme Dark alu. On top in some areas, especially along panel lines (there is also a oil wash) Xtreme Metal Smoke.
I would say I like Alclad more, but those are harder to get nowadays. The Xtreme paints are a bit sticky for a long time, if you touch it with the fingers.

@Thomas I guess you are more the expert for Clear Prop kits! This was my first one - Not that bad 🙂

May be I should mention it: the other paints on top only in very thin layers!
I forgot to mention the jet engine: here I used even more paints until I liked it. I can't remember all. But here I used also Titanium and Alclad Hot Metal clear paints. In reality, it looks better; perhaps I should have used a polarizing filter in front of the lens.

Thomas Haberl - (TH SCALE MODELS)
Well, I would not consider myself as an expert, just because I started 2 of them 🤣 looks like you enjoyed the build. I'm still dealing with seams ... both, the Mig-19 and the F-86 have very strange part separation ....

Oh yes, that part separation was also here not along panel lines. This is not something to be proud of in my model. I should have paid more attention to the seams, especially because of NMF.
