So you chose a simple kit to restore your mojo?
And immediately added resin nozzles and seat?
That's why we all love you!

thanks Mantin. i have also added a ejection seat too... 😛 but i think that will be all

thanks a lot Cuajete! welcome to the build log Nicolas. small update. i knew that antenna was not going to survive (top part is already gone), so replacing it was the way to go.

Great build, enjoying the progress, Spanjaard. 👍
Same is with me, whenever I pull a kit from the stash to restore mojo in a week-build... I find so many aftermarket stuff inside the box which would be a shame to not use 😄 😄

that is why I took this one, I had no aftermarket for it....but then I realized that I had the exhaust home (for another kit but works ok) and the ejection seat was so simple...... most of my other kits have already 2 or 3 aftermarket set already in the box 😄
welcome to the build DerMattes

I have this kit in the stash as well. Current plan is some kind of What if build, so I follow closely where the kit may have its challenges.

@DerMattes, fit of the fuselage could be a bit better, but can be resolved without getting crazy. no other issues so far. apart of those created by myself because I added the exhaust.
@gorby, thanks my friend!

Geeze, I can't find my microscope! I'll be back again soon Spanjaard, and better armed.
11 September, 09:29
microscope? it is 1/72, no microscope required 😉
I have worked on it the last few days and I may remove all the paint again tonight....

@DerMattes, it is helping 🙂
@you do not want to know how many models I started also in 2018!! 😄 😄 but now I am also working on those too! 🙂

I'm curious to see the end result of this iconic jet - and if ends up being a "quick build" as you expected! 😜
8 November, 20:27
well, with me builds are usually never quick and this one was no exception 😄 in fact, i try to cut some corners and paid for it. thinking a seam is good enough and started painting certainly did not go well with my detail obsession, so i have painted it several times and fixed the seams several times, rescribed panel lines (also several times) ... but it is getting there, slowly, but getting there.

thanks Martin, Sergej I, Zbynek Honzik and Alec K, new pictures soon 🙂

There is a price to pay for perfection Spanjaard! Usually time AND sanity. Looking good though mate!

How on earth do you manage to keep this long pitot on through all the sanding and taping?
12 November, 19:17
Sergej I, it is basically steel and brass 🙂, see pictures 6-7 (no paint there). each tube and the final wire go all the way to the bottom (or as deep as I did manage), to make it stronger. I knew that the plastic one would never survive the build. I am happy to report that it was a good idea since I have bumped it multiple times and it is still ok. Plastic would have not survived even the first hit.
to ensure that the little addition in the middle (kind of T form) was the weakest part, so i drilled the big antenna, and passed a wire between the antenna and the T, prior to soldering them together. i hope this helps

antennas in pictures 12-13 have also been replaced with pieces of flat thick aluminium. getting rid of the, made sanding the areas a lot easier. I should have done at the beginning of the build, and not half way 😛 I also removed the red position lights in the middle of fuselage. i still need to make new ones and add them after finishing painting. i hope they work they way i plan....

Really like the aircraft, so definitely taking a seat - great progress so far! 👍
