Me 3. Looks like a similar experience to my IAR 80 - what do we need so many parts for in the 21st century?

Ah, the 4 horsemen of the plastic apocalypse have joined!!
Great to see you all.
I've just spent 10 hours of my life getting the cockpit together.
This is a kit that should be 48th or bigger, but squeezes many many micro parts complication into 72nd.
Testing all my skills.
@Ł have a look at IAR80 to glean any tips?

Skip the front half of the cockpit that will never be visible unless you cut out half of the fuselage? 😄
Don't skip too much inside the cowling though, most of it is visible after all.
That should save me approx 30 parts next time (yes, I got double set as a gift from my loving wife)

Thanks Ben and Oleg and the others I've missed…you don't build this kit, you wrestle with it until
It becomes a Flogger

Looks like you have more trouble than me to come to this state. Cross my fingers for the next steps.

Thanks 'mates for weighing in on the build!
So far an extremely over-engineered kit for 72nd, with good detail but too much ambition at this scale.
That said, a good representation of the Cold War Flogger.
@Michael- many fitting issues and I'm taking my time. Will order some after market "spikes/pitots" to finish as not sure if I be bothered with the kit's alternative!

If you talk about the MiniWorld brass stuff, go for them. They are fantastic and make a hell of a difference.
20 June, 05:30
Thanks Michael, you've just read my mind. I've ordered them and the canopy masks too.
It's a helluva complicated kit, and the aftermarket's will simplify things and be more robust that the PE/plastic suggestions

Well. If you approach it with the appropriate mindset - meaning: dryfit, scraping, dryfit, scraping, dr.. - you get the idea - you can turn it into a very fine model rich in detail. But it comes at a price.

Michael, I have the "old" RV Aircraft kit with all the accessories for it, so my comment was more of a hope that I can still build it. Not that the RV kit is without challenges … 😅
24 June, 12:03
Thanks all for the plain old good comments and motivation. Kim's Flogger is ready for final inspection.
A quick review says this kit is 7/10 for fit, very ambitious for the scale with many minute parts especially the PE, the stencils took almost as long as the build itself.
That said, I'm guessing it's the best at 72nd, but expect a lot of involvement to build to the manufacture's expectation. With hindsight I'd use some of the aftermarket stuff in the cockpit - would quicken the process. Photos to come of finals in Wusan! See you on the MiG-21…coming up next…

Looks very good Andy! Congratulation on completing this complex qnd challenging kit.
1 13 July, 10:50
Thanks Patryk and Tibor, it's not one for the faint hearted!
Now it's done I am proud of how I got there, but of course- plenty of things I would have done differently too.
1 14 July, 09:03
Nice result and I am happy that my project doesn't require a cockpit interiour which I dreaded just by looking at the instructions.
14 July, 13:01
Neuling, Melf, Nicolas and Robert I'm appreciative of your final assessments I hope it inspires anyone to have a goat this insanely detailed subject (for 72nd, anyway).
Michael, I'm not sure which one you'll building but I hope it doesn't twist you up like this one!!
14 July, 21:43
Arma DOES get carried away with the wee parts. My P-39 is really testing me
2 14 July, 23:27
@Casey- feel the issue, Arma's 72nd Hurricane was another ambitious-for-scale build…too many PE with vague "how to place them" … these E European manufacturers need to up their narratives on how to get the best out of their braille-scale products! (IMHO)
2 15 July, 18:37
Andy, despite all the problems with the construction of the model, the result is excellent. 👍
16 July, 18:39
Thanks Ludvík, I can see why you predominantly work in 48!
Appreciate the critique and visit!
