Thanks Mark! I tried glazing over Zenithal. I'm a little disappointed with the desaturated look of the uniform and leather, I hope an oil wash can give it some warmth.

Thanks Rui! Hope everything will go well. This is my first biplane and it seems a lot more complicated than the simple monoplanes I have built so far.

Thanks a lot Timmie ๐
It's a little sad that the pilot will be so obscured but still I got the taste for it and I'm thinking about building a Po-2 with two night witches in it.
And thanks Guy!

Yes indeed it's a little sad but at least you'll know that there is a beautiful painted figure inside. 🙂 The ICM u2/po-2 got decals for a 46th Tamansky GV Night Bomber (night witches) plane. A very nice kit build one a couple of years back.

That is precisely the kit I'm looking at. And pilot and gunner from Aerobonus.

Nice! Excellent wing colour variation and pilot. Pilot eyes are great. I always have trouble with the eyes.
1 12 June, 21:47
Thanks Henry! Eyes was the hardest part with the pilot. I wanted him to look badass, not mentally challenged and I think I ended on the right side, but it was a close call ๐

Thanks Villiers ๐
I'm getting to the first real scary part of the build.
Painting metal chipping๐จ
1 15 June, 08:20
I think I survived the chipping even if I'm not very happy about the result. Will probably try chipping fluid on my next plane.
1 15 June, 16:08
Thanks for your kind words Villiers.
I actually think the chipping looks a little bit better after matt varnish.

Agree with Villers. The high/low lights, chipping look effective and the pilot can still be seen from the port side. Spot on.๐๐ฅธ๐ค

Thanks Mark! I'm happy with the build so far. Now I have some work with oil weathering and after that the second scary part with this build, the rigging.
16 June, 14:13
Thanks Desert Marlin!
I'm experimenting with the weathering not really knowing what I should do but I got the advice to use buff color on the fabric parts and it seem to be working.

Thanks Pietro!
Don't congratulate me yet, I have to do the rigging first๐

Thanks Henry!
I found there is a PE kit for the bracing wires so now I'm more confident i can finish the Chaika.
2 19 June, 14:14
Thanks Jacob! Glad you like my Chaika๐
PE rigging is on its way and I hope I can present the finished plane in 1-2 weeks.
2 22 June, 07:45
Thanks Guy!
The PE rigging made it a lot easier. I only had to scratch build the antenna.
1 30 June, 20:51
Splendid result. You appleid the rigging very well. I recon i would have bent and twisted the pe ๐ซฃ. It just seem to fit perfectly.
1 July, 09:42
Thanks Timmie ๐
The PE didn't bend like usual and had very strong spring back. I think it is because it is made of steel and a little thicker than normal. I had some problems drilling the holes at the right angle, would have been easier if I had planned for the PE from the beginning.
