Personal Interest: Cape Canaveral Air Station had a submarine port available for SLBM testing, and the Navy infrequently tested the Trident C4 nearby in the Atlantic Ocean throughout my tour. A highlight of these launches was performing weather observations from a barge ship closer to the launch area. The Trident served in the US Navy through 2005.

Model Specifications: This model represents a UGM-96 Trident C4 in test and evaluation markings, as launched by the US Navy at Cape Canaveral Air Station.

Secondary Interests:
Cold War: During the buildup of the United States' nuclear triad in the 1980s, the Trident C4 steadily replaced the older Poseidon C3 SLBMs through 1992. The Trident C4 was sole SLBM being operated during most of my USAF career.
