Ka-18 is a Soviet multirole helicopters of 1950s, designed by Kamov design bureau. It is an four seat version of previous Ka-15 featuring forced engine. redesigned nose, enlarged vertical stabilizers.
The model is quite small, near 10cm (3.9 inches) long. It is a short run kit so there were lot of sanding and putting. I replaced some small parts with plastic rods and stretched sprues, especialy in main rotors column. There is only one color variant in assembly guide, but it shows the most popular image of Ka-18, which was often found in Soviet books about aviation. The scheme also isn't easy to make, decals are very thin and white on the red background... Anyway, the result is a nice looking helicopter of unusual configuration and distinctive appearance, highlighted by a bright 1960s-style paint job. No one else produces such an early 1:72 scale model of the Kamov helicopter, so if you're a fan of small civilian helicopters or just interested in scale scale challenge, this is your choice.
