You can look at it this way: it contains the parts for the modeler to choose from various configurations.

It's true. But boxart represents "what if" configuration, not real prototype. And modeler must be noted that.

Mine just came today, the kit comes with both types of mantlet so it's all good. You can go bearded or fresh shaven 🙂

Didn't Panther G's use rubber rimmed wheels and not steel wheels? I dont see any reference photos with a late G with steel wheels.

As an experiment, the M.A.N company released a limited series of these Panthers, serial numbers 121032-121055.
Summary notes about these machines:
1. Everyone had ordinary gun masks (at least until a photo of a similar Panther with a bearded mask revealed).
2. None of them had flame arresters on the exhaust pipes.
3. Some of them, most likely the last in the series, had a new heating system for the fighting compartment, identified by a high hood above the left fan.
4. The armoring of the exhaust pipe outlet is welded.
5. The bulk of them ended up in the 1st SS Panzer Division LSSAH.
