About the aircraft:

The MiG-21U was developed based on the MiG-21F aircraft by installing an instructor's cabin behind the pilot's cabin. The installation of the second cabin was achieved at the expense of reducing the fuel tanks and limiting the weight of the weapons that the MiG-21U could carry.

About the copy:

The early version MiG-21U (66-400) with side number 1317 is one of six aircraft of this type purchased by Poland. This aircraft was initially (1965-1967?) used at the Centrum Szkolenia Lotniczego (Aviation Training Center) in Modlin. The aircraft was then transferred to the 1st PLM in Mińsk Mazowiecki, where it crashed in January 1978.

The configuration shown could have been used at the CSL during the development of methodology/training of MiG-21 pilots for ground attack missions. MiG-21Us (except for the initial models) did not have any built-in cannons, so for the purposes of shooting training, it was necessary to suspend a gondola with an Afanasyev A-12.7 cannon (12.7 mm caliber) and place P-50 training bombs under the wings.
