Special Details
(1) Miscellaneous struts and braces made of 0.5 mm polystyrene-rods for: engine outriggers, vertical stabilizers, railing at control-car and emergency-cabin
(2) Assist rudders: rudders made of 0.3 mm polystyrene-sheet; rudder-struts made of 0.5 mm polystyrene-rods
(3) 3-blade-propellers (as on the original airship) instead of 2-blade-type from model-kit; I used “1/350 P3511 D3A2 Val propellers” supplied by “Tom’s Modelworks”; these were scaled up to my requested dimensions
(4) F9C-Sparrowhawk aircrafts added: I used the “1/700 Boeing F4B-4” from “Tom’s Modelworks”; I removed the undercarriage and replaced it with “bombs” from “L’Arsenal” to equip the aircrafts with belly-tanks; the skyhooks are made of 0.5 mm polystyrene-strips; the 3d-printed aircrafts have no propeller, so I added the “1/700 P713 OS2U Kingfisher propellers” from “Tom’s Modelworks”
(5) Trapeze-system added: I used parts of the PE ship detail set “732-IJN SEAPLANE TENDERS” from “Tom’s Modelworks” in scale 1/700;
(6) Water-radiators: black bare metal foil for in- and outtakes
(7) Self-made model stand: beech-base with mahogany-wood-stain and clear-coat, 4 mm brass-rods
(8) Nameplates: from Model Monkey LLC (“excellent service”)
(9) Scratches on the used model kit and tolerances at the joints and parts were hard to remove or to correct due to the textured surface of the hull (sanding not useful); the same applies for the closing of model-kit-openings which I didn’t use for my modifications (sanding would remove the elevated structure lines of the hull)
