Why I have now "Walk Like an Egyptian" in my ears? Have fun!

Taking a seat as well 🙂

Thanks Frank! I seem to be humming that tune also!!!

Following too! 👍

The ResKit Seat is swallowed whole by the cockpit. The Eduard Seat looks far more accurate in terms of size. I like the detail of the ResKit Seat, but it just seems too small. Any thoughts out there?!?

Mark Sherwood
Got to agree, the reskit seat looks packed with detail, but too small. Whereas the Eduard seat looks in scale with a good amount of detail. 👍

Thanks Mark! That seems to be the conclusion I come to! Cheers!!!

The Reskit page say "Recommended kit: Any" so it seems not to be designed for a smaller kit.
If I see the Eduard leg holders are horizontally, on the Reskit one they point downwards. May be the Reskit seat needs to be mounted in higher position, so the headrest is is same position as Eduard? But I have not seen drawings of the MiG.

There's multiple types of ejection seats KM-1, SK, etc. depending upon which variant of this particular communist tube you're building.

Nick Dragone
Both look great but I would lean towards Eduard.

Frank: If I place the ResKit Seat high on the rails, then the seat bottom is about 2 mm higher than the side control panels which looks odd when I look into the cockpit. I could modify the ResKit Seat to extend it by placing an extension just below the seatback, That plus mounting a little higher might work!

I think I'm okay with the Eduard seat.

Good decision 👍

Lots of little things to do! The Ammo/Mig Acrylic Glue is indispensable!

Got the masking done!!!

How'd you do the oval for the canopy front?
1  4 October, 03:37
Desert Marlin Autor
This kit comes with pre-cut masks. The oval was pre-cut.

Adding the metal panels first. Then the green Antenna. Then the camo.

Nice. Watching and learning

All masking is done for the antenna. Now to paint the orange panels. This is done first to allow the lines to be made crisp for the panels. I have to freshen up the primer around the smaller antenna and the nose ring...

All the overspray is cleaned up. Now I can do the orange panels! But first, I have to go to a Ukulele Festival!

The Orange goes on very nice!
1  9 October, 00:28

Now to let the orange rest. Tomorrow I camouflage!!!

It seems Mr. Color is my favorite to airbrush since the loss of Model Master Paints. I miss my enamels, but the lacquers and Aqueous are fine substitutes!

There's always Humbrol 😳

The Mr. Color C12 olive Drab seems to need a little more green color...

Looking solid, can't wait to see the masks off 👍

Thanks! Same here!!!

The lighter green (FS34102) seems to look more like the box art and the artwork on the instruction sheet... May not be perfectly accurate, but seems more appropriate to me.
1  15 October, 01:47
Desert Marlin Autor
Now I need to paint the black borders on the orange panels...

I also got the correct pitot tube in the mail today!

I also like the lighter shade.
2  15 October, 16:12
Desert Marlin Autor
Thanks Timmie! After drying overnight, the cured tone seems fare more accurate! It could be because of the under painting of the Olive Drab I (Mr. Color C12)...
1  15 October, 19:17

And now to do the lines on the topside!!!

The Orange seems appropriate to me....

I hope it's not too late.
Very nice, I'll be watching 👀 and drawing inspiration for the construction of my MiG-21MF. 😉

The contrasts between the paint colours (day glo and camouflage) makes the aeroplane pop and pure eye candy.
2  16 October, 05:14
Desert Marlin Autor
Yes. This is what made me buy it back in 2011. I think I went into the hobby shop three or four times before I finally bought it. It was just too interesting a scheme. Then I started looking at the other schemes and wondered where I was going to put three or four more… this one makes me happy that it's nearly done!

I have now applied about 150 little dinky microscopic decals... haven't spent this much time on decals since my F-4E and F-4C Hasegawa kits I did 25 years ago...

No step
1  28 October, 03:57

Oh, the panel numbers and "NO STEP" decals on the F-4 are the worst. I got good a picking them off the wet paper with the tip of an Xacto knife...

Excellent work, a real eye catcher

Sweet MiG! Looked like a walk in the park next to that F-15E. Excellent colors
1  30 October, 23:11

Thanks very. much Rando!!! Absolutely easier than the F-15I. Still, the pitot tube is no easy trick...

Great result! The model looks very good with those orange areas. The orange color has enlivened the appearance and made the model more attractive. 👍
