I have started this scale 1/350 Gearing class DD in 2009 I guess. Because of a torsion of the hull in his longitudal axis I put the model beside and lost my interest to finish it.

For some days I stumbled upon the kit in the rear corner of my stash. After I took a look inside and noticed all the extra details and lot of work I put into the model, I decide to finish it.

So here we go, Gearing class DDE-818 USS New, a conversion into a sub hunter killer with a Mk.15 hedgehog instead of the second bow turret, main tripod mast, smaller rear most with HF/DF and a full depth charge arrangement. GMM PE and scratchbuilt parts, like the masts and hedgehog and a lot of small modifications were put into the model.

There are only minor things to add + the railing. So paintwork can start soon.

The teaser shows a scrachtbuilt Mk. 15 trainable hedgehog. I jused nearly 50 self made styrene parts and one checkered plate for the tiny depth charge thrower.
