The yellow I mixed reminds me of the Humbrol "Yellow Facings" color I used back in the 1970's!

One more color and then the mottling. I really enjoy painting these!

Working to get the paint mix, airbrush and air pressure to allow me to do the mottling on the sides...

So far, so nice. Yerse, nightmare trying to get those mixes right. Good luck. 👍🥸🤘

For some reason I struggled with the airbrush and getting the mottling on. Lots of pressure and viscosity issues...

Perhaps it's the weather?

I feel your pain. You are so right Desert Marlin, every paint brand is different and has me wresting with the thinner brand/thinning ratio/pressure combo! Please not another variable!

Well, I'm over all that for this kit! Decals are going on!!!

Looks great, nice paint work. And yes, the temperatures can affect the mixtures and air pressure. I live in New Jersey and we are in early summer but the humidity is creeping up, so yes adjustments need to be done. I find it helpful to have a "mule" airframe and wings that is primed as a test bed.

Thanks Nick! I copied the nice glossy print for the versions and then enlarged to 125%. I cut out the colors, two templates for each side and used those as my "mule". Once I could match the print, I committed paint to the model. It seemed the thinner was drying out very quickly then when it got too thin, I was adding more pigment but that took me into more thinner. Just seemed like a real "goat rodeo"!

I added a picture for the paints I used to mix the yellow for the wings and nose. I think it matches the tail decal pretty well!

Nice work! I've said it before and will continue to say it, you can't beat a Tamiya kit. Of course your building skills, paint and decals just enhance it. Bravo

Thanks guys! Like I said, these are just really good for making something happen when the other build is dragging on! Cheers!!!
