Personal Interest: The Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) flyoff between the YF-22 and YF-23 began at Edwards AFB in 1990, and took place during my early USAF career. I was fascinated by the thust vectoring, supercruise, and stealth capabilities of the YF-22. I later served AFFTC while the first operational F-22A aircraft were undergoing test and evaluation.
