Found this old kit in and amongst the 400 unfinished kits in an old fellas basement. I was given it for helping clean up. Built it for my dad's 88 birthday since his father flew Lancs.

THE UPSIDE

- dad liked it
- detailing and damage and weathering, oh my.
- learned a lot about masking camo
- put a lot of work into masking canopies and ball turret guns masking
- improvised gluing old style poorly designed joints and coped with age of model.
- Made a custom magnetic stand for a few bucks.
- Created custom decals. The original decals were older than me and so brittle they shattered! Did vector art of my own and printed new ones

THE DOWNSIDE
- one wing was drooping so I overcorrected it. Looked fine while plane was on wheels but very noticeable on the stand. VERY.
- damaged the canopy by cleaning up extea acrylic sprayed inside canopy with lacquer thinner instead of Mr. Thinner. Got it out quickly but the damaged was done! Opted to spray all transparent parts with matte finish which looks cool but hides all the little guys inside!
- my grnadfather flew a few Lancs nut mostly Liberators and Halifaxes. My smart ass brother said, "that's a Lanc. you built the wrong plane." Effin brothers!

The finished Lanc. The decals were older than me so they broke into shards. I custom made the decals.
