Trumpeter 1/48 twin-engine night bomber. Suffered from major battle damage from a Fiat CR.42 Falco flown by Vito Rinaldi during a night raid on the 7th of December 1940 over Libya and probably rolled out of control upon landing. According to photo evidence documenting the accident, the intensity of the hard landing and uncontrollable roll caused the aircraft to overshoot the runway and fall into a run-down quarry with the fuselage splitting into two halves. As the Wimpy’s fuselage split in two, the life raft inadvertently deployed onto the wings upon impact.
