Tank strength; 8th Panzer Regiment, 57 PzKw I, 74 PzKw II, 3 PzKw III, 7 PzKw IV, 9 Pz.Bef.
1940: May; 10. Panzer Division advanced through the Ardennes and provided flank protection for 1. and 2. Panzer Divisions' Channel Dash.
Jun; on the 5th, 10. Panzer Division swung South flanking the Maginot Line and moving to the Swiss Border. Tank strength; 7th and 8th Panzer Regiment,
44 PzKw I, 113 PzKw II, 58 PzKw III, 32 PzKw IV, 18 Pz.Bef.
October; The division was reorganized and retained the 7. Panzer Regiment but losing the 8. PR to the newly forming 15. Panzer Division.
1941: June; 10. Panzer Division advanced into the Soviet Union with Army Group Center. 7th Panzer Regiment, 45 PzKw II, 105 PzKw III, 20 PzKw IV, 12 Pz.Bef.
June to December; The advance went via Minsk, Vyasma, Smolensk, and closed in on Moscow. Soviet counter-offensives and extreme Winter conditions
drove back the division with heavy losses.
1942: January-March; 10. Panzer fought defensive battles near Moscow with mounting losses and by the end of March was no longer an effective fighting
force.
May-October; The division transferred to France for refit. In August 10. Panzer defended the French Port of Dieppe against a British/Canadian landing.
November; In response to the Anglo-American landings in Morocco and Algeria on 8th November 10. Panzer was shipped to Tunisia. As the key
component of the new Panzer Armee Afrika, 10. Panzer set up a defensive perimeter around the port cities of Tunis and Bizerta and
awaited Rommel's Afrika Korps from the East and the Anglo-Americans from the West. 7th Panzer Regiment, 21 PzKw II, 105 PzKw III, 20
PzKw IV, 9 Pz.Bef.
December: The latter arrived first, and the two sides clashed as they probed the hills and passes of the Atlas Mountains. Season rains made movements
and major operations impossible until February 1943.
1943: February; Rommel arrived and set up (after dealing the Americans a heavy blow at Kasserine) a blocking force at Mareth in the South. On 26 February 10.
Panzer spear headed Operation Oxhead (Unternehmen Oschenpkopf) in the Northern Atlas Mountains aimed mauling British forces
there. The attacked failed all objectives with only minor gains. Losses were heavy in men and tanks.
March; After withdrawing from the Oxhead fiasco, the division was badly handled by US forces at El Gutier. With Rommel's defeat at Mareth the Panzer
Armee Afrika forced back to a perimeter around Tunis and Bizerta.
April/May; End game in Africa. Final battles were fierce and bloody on both sides but there was no hope. 10. Panzer Division surrendered on 13 May.
June; 10. Panzer Division was written off never to rise again.
