The Westland Lysander was a British army cooperation and liaison aircraft used before and during World War II. It was designed to have exceptional short take-off and landing capabilities, which made it useful for tasks like reconnaissance, artillery spotting, and ferrying agents into and out of occupied Europe. The Mk I and Mk III were two variants of this aircraft, with the Mk III being a later development.
