OK, truth is I am still working on the M1000 trailer, which is way more complicated than the truck. I may take a break from the assembly of the trailer as I found that I've lost my interest...

I agree. A joy to watch. You have to take your time to detect all the little details in this work.

This is my first Asuka kit. I started building it in 2020 during the initial stage of the pandemic.
Asuka somehow was considered by many modelers as the best brand for Sherman series. I had high hope for the kit that I even bought a set of metal tracks for it. However when I started the build, I was so frustrated by the manual as it was very confusing. The overall quality of the kit is no matching with brands like RFM or Takom. I was quite disappointed that I ended up with missing a lot of the details as they were not mentioned in the instructions. I left the model without painting for the next few years, until now.
In hindsight I was inexperienced in model building back then. Also the pandemic and the divorce put a lot of pressure on me on those days.
Anyway, thank you my friend if you are still readying this long statement. Modelling means a lot of different things to all of us. I am very glad that I finally finished this model, which on a personal level has a special meaning. Time to move on to the new chapter.

The level of detail is quite superb. Love the camo pattern and the amount weathering is spot on

I was asked in another group about this. I want to share my ways to paint a tank in one day:
1. Decide the base colour of the vehicle. Normally I paint it in dark grey for metal effect. Wait to dry completely or use a hairdryer to felicitate the drying process.
2. Spray two coats of hairspray for chipping. I found the cheap one in supermarket works really well.
3. Spray oxidized red, then dot-spray another layers of oxi-red highlighted with yellow for variation.
4. Spray water on top to react the hairspray. Use a hard brush poking the surface for chipping effect. Hairdryer to dry the model completely.
5. Spray clear coat to protect the work (Photo 1)
6. Masking areas using masking tapes or masking putty for camouflage pattern (Photo 2).
7. Spray hairspray (Step 2)
8. Spray grey green colour in different shades
9. Spray water for chipping (Refer to step 4)
10. Spray highly diluted clear green as filter and protection (Photo 3&4)
11. Repeat steps above for the yellow colour (Photo 5)
If you found the process above is too complicated, you can skip the hairspray part. Chipping can be done by hand painting.
The final steps need to use oil painting:
1. Use green, yellow, red colour for the camo patterns for highlights and variations.
2. Use black oil for shadows
3. Use white oil for fading and highlights.
At this stage the model is ready for further weathering work!

You get the sense that when we do this hobby we want to fulfil a purpose by making something which we create with our hands and our hearts too. Modelling is a sheer joy and yes it has its moments, especially the small pieces but honestly, I WOULDN'T change it for the world. Modelling is something which provides you with the perfect alternative to doing something that just doesn't have the same excitement, I am thinking of television and so on. Especially when you are feeling so low and you just want to create and improve. Your weathering is brilliant, I love the small details on what I think is a underappreciated scale of model, I love 1/35 - Plenty of steps to go through but seriously, it looks like you are enjoying it, would love to hear back from you about what got you into modelling, I am new to this page. I love it so much as I do with modelling as a whole! Keep those pictures flowing. They are brilliant!
