Airfix 1/72 B-26 Marauder

Scale:
1:72
Status:
Completed
Started:

Airfix first released this kit in 1973. This is not a bad kit, not exactly an easy kit to build but nothing terrible to deal with. This was my second time building this kit, my first build was back in 1974.
I made this about 4 years ago for a FB group build, the theme was "Airfix B-26." Mostly made out of the box except for the following: added some extra details in the cockpit and bombardier area and replaced the kits propellers with a set from Monogram's Curtiss Electric propellers from its own B-26 snap together kit.
I hand brushed Tamiya's acrylic paints, Olive Drab and Neutral grey. The Olive Drab was lightened a little. I do not remember which shade of green was used for the leading and training edges. The gloss and flat coats was airbrushed.
The decals are from a XtraDecals set and I used "Yo-Yo Champ" from the 497th BS. This aircraft was shot down by an Me-262 just days away from the end of the war after surviving over 100 missions.
