Have a nice day, to ask about the method on my Shreck album - wood painting process: The base is beige, buff or something like that. Then I cover half of the panels alternately with tape. Oil paints in the yellow brown dark red and orange spectrum. I apply random dots of oil paint with a toothpick. With a thick brush I spread the dots of paint in one direction - back and forth strokes with the brush. I wait for the paint to dry, remove the tape, protect the work with a gloss varnish. I continue the process by covering the finished panels and painting the rest. Varnish again, and after drying I shade and darken the whole with burnt umber oil paint. Final wash, very carefully, only into the gaps between the panels, and gloss varnish over the decals.
It's a time consuming process, but I think the result is better than wood texture decals, and I can do any shade.
