This one is 1/6 scale — the paintwork is excellent 👏 but the price is a bit too high 😄

Got a question for the truck builders. I bought this at a show a couple of years ago and thought I might tear it down and rebuild it (it's a little rough, to say the least). Anyway, it was only $10.00 so I figured no great loss if it turns into nothing. Actually, it's not in too bad a shape, except for the broken in half frame! A couple of parts missing but overall, not too bad (If you like a black interior with a red dash and red/yellow seats!). Anyway, to my question. What engine is this meant to represent? My guess is Caterpillar but, not being a truck guy, it's just a guess. If so, would Caterpillar yellow be the right color or was there different colors depending on the year? Thanks!! Hiya mate.
After checking the instructions, they suggested that you paint the engine tan?
To me, that tells me that it's a Cummins motor. However, owner/operators had their engines painted in whatever they wanted, so you could use your discretion? But, I did a bit more research and around the time, peterbilt changed the headlights, they indeed ran a CAT motor, like the one in the kit. Maybe Revell just messed up the colour?

The funny thing is, Bozzer, if I had looked a little closer the first time, I wouldn't have had to ask! It's molded right in to the valve cover "CAT 3406"! I also spoke with Tim Ahlborn about it. If you're not familiar with Tim, he is quite the truck builder. He posts quite frequently and has for years, on another board and he has been a fan of Peterbilt since he was a kid. He has tons of pictures and reference material on his site and I learned from him that most of the engines around that time were shipped from the factory painted white at Peterbilt's request. So, being the plain, non-adventurous guy that I am, I decided white will do just fine. Check out Tim's site.... www.timstrucks.com

Evening Mike. Yes, I'm aware of Tim and his great work. He's truly a very knowledgeable and helpful person. His builds, are really something else!
I'm glad you finally got sorted out. I've discovered that the instructions we get, aren't very accurate, and the manufacturers just go for the easy option? Like Tim, I also do research on my builds, but some engines, have multiple versions and colours. You really need to look closely. Dashboards and interiors are the same. Most of my builds, are custom work, so I use my artistic license, when possible. I look forward to seeing your truck builds, in the future. Happy glue sniffing, gud buddy! 😉

Decided to leave off the tacky gold trim. It's a personal opinion and you know what they say about opinions. ?

Very nice build and great colour choice. The three piece rear fender didn't quite line up on one side for me. My separation wasn't critical as the colours were deep but with high contrast colours, certainly noticeable. I painted them separately then secured at the end.
