Ziu-9 Trolleybus, AVD models 4039

The Ziu-9 is the most mass-produced trolleybus in the world and was in use in Soviet Union in huge numbers. Also this type of trolleybus was used in many other countries that were using this type of public transport including Hungary, Yugoslavia, Greece , Argentina and Colombia. This was my first 1:43 scale die-cast kit for assembly. I already had a collection of usual 1:43 diecast cars models (ready built) and saw this kit from AVD models. I love this type of transport and Ziu-9 trolleybuses were a part of my life in Ukraine (now there are few last on route) and when I saw this kit on sale I decided to try my skills with it.
The kit consists of quite big metal body of trolleybus, plastic bottom and chassis frame, big transparent sprue with glazing and optics and decals. Also photoetched small parts and movable trolley poles are included. The assembly has some points that need to be taken into account. There is a large area of glazing on the model, so it's better to use a special glue for metal and transparent plastic for them. Also unlike most assemble kits of airplanes, tanks or ships AVD models doesn't give schemes of coloration at all so you should use information from open sources to find out colors not only for main scheme, but for other parts of kit including colors of cabin inside, floor, seats, handrails, lights etc. For my model I used a photo of Ziu-9 taken in Dnepropetrovsk city, Ukrainian SSR in 1985 and ordered custom decals to represent this machine. Personaly I like how it turned out, the model The model conveys well the "feel" of a real trolleybus and some nostalgia for those times. While I wouldn't say it's an easy model, it is highly recommended to all fans of public transportation.
