Wow, big aircraft. 63cm wingspan, in 1/72. Nice mold, not a lot of detail though, which invites a lot of effort to make it interesting. Looking for etched extras.

I don't know if any of you have used these, but it looks mighty fiddly to get right.

Ooh, the plastic is awful, the precision of the mold is poor. Lots of flash on the fine parts. Going to be a challenge kit. The false markings (no swastikas) will need to be reprinted for it to be historically accurate.

Lordy, this is one of the holy grail kits. I paid a lot, a lot, a lot of money for this kit, if but only to get it off my wishlist. Kit speculators buy up all of the pre orders, and as such, it f*cks over modellers. Why? It's mainly in the US.....

This is actually quite a complicated kit to make look good, it needs a lot of no-how to make realistic, otherwise it just looks like a plastic Viking boat model.

Quite surprised to recieve it and it isn't in blue plastic like the one I had as a kid. Happy to get it, going to do a parralel build with the Trumpeter kit.

Sold an earlier box. Got two more, one half built, the other is this one, maybe build the half built and sell the top last edition for silly money, or maybe not. Fetish kit. They sell in five minutes on ebay so you have to really hunt hard.

I don't like doing cars, mainly because they are so difficult to make realistic, either you do them "display case perfect", or you go full weathering. Alas, my skills aren't that good and cars always look like "models"...
8 October, 17:53
I'm not a car man, myself, but I do build trucks. My cars, are normally nostalgia builds. Either stuff that I built as a kid, or cars that I've owned. My trucks, are just my wishlist, if I ever won the lottery, lol! However, as you watch guys on here, you learn new techniques and skills, and you hone in on your own unique path. Scalemates is a journey itself, hence why you should never give up, on something you enjoy doing 🙂

One of "those" kits.... Yeah, you can do it as a static, but you'll always feel guilty that you didn't RC it... What to do? What to do?

Despite the quality, and the extras, no one seems to be joyous of this one. Going to build it just by curiousity, to find out why.

Heads up everybody in shouting distance of Chambery France, on the 1st/2nd November there is the "Savoie Modélisme" expo in the massive halls of the Expo center. It has an utterly huge rail section, and an equally huge static model (of all makers) built models exhibition. There are many private and pro sellers with many super deals to be done. One of the sellers has fifteen thousand etched/detail/resin sets for almost anything you can imagine. I have no affiliation to this expo, so I'm not doing publicity, I'm putting this out for all modellers who might be able to go see. Two years ago I went with a preliminary budget in mind of 250€, and as the great Douglas Adams said about deadlines, I can say about the noise that preliminary budgets make when you go wooshing past them at the "speed of cash". I was up for 600€... This year, I'm a gonna go for it in that seller with his etched brass bits. My stash is totally out of control now and I'm a gonna have to sell some stuff methinks, but I want to super detail the stuff that is important. He really does have fifteen thousand references, it is going to take two days to go through them, because his filing system is only by scale... aaaargh! If memory serves he's an asian chappy that has a shop, or business in Paris, perhaps some of you know of him. I was impressed by this expo when I went, for the level of organisation and it isn't expensive to go, 20€ for the two days. I re-iterate that I have no affiliation and that this is not publicity.

This kit is getting to be as desireable as the Flower class Corvette, there were a large number available, then suddenly not. Lots of detail possibilities.

Bought this as part of a job lot, unfortunately very incomplete, if I ever get round to doing anything with it, I'll have to cut from new balsa to make almost half the parts.

Probably the single most difficult to buy Revell kit. Silly money, sellers cheat like mad if they think they can get more money on another platform, bought one, got sheated out of two more. Going to go to the level of the Airfix 1/24 Mosquito in price. If you find one, get it, they're amazing and can be ultra detailed with a shed load of extras on the parts market. I cuddle it at night.

Built this despite myself, it is not a very precise or well made kit, but will look good as a "what-if" Luftwaffe plane moored next to my Trumpeter 1/200 Bismark. Going to do the camouflage in pretty much the same as the Me Gigant transport plane. All part of a big diorama. Although the Spruce Goose was massive, when you compare it to the Bismark you realise just how big the Bismark was at 2 and a half times longer as the Goose had wingspan.
