Travels with Charlie

About 12 years ago I built this tribute to my favorite author, John Steinbeck. I just pulled it from storage and repaired some of the broken bits and did a minor update (I could never get a photo of the rear). This is a tribute if not an exact replica of the truck Steinbeck called Rocinante in his book 'Travels with Charlie' which now resides in the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas California. The kit was a Chevy and not a GMC and it was a short bed unlike the real truck but I was only after the essence of the famous truck. The camper I built from scratch from Evergreen styrene. Paint was brushed on Humbrol. The best brush paint I ever used. steinbeck.org/
