Did you run the power supply through the base? Or did you integrate it into the X-wing?

Markus Helmers AuthorThanks CaptGPF! The cables run through the gooseneck mount into the base. I run most of my models on 9 volts, that's a tough fit even in a model as big as this.

Markus Helmers AuthorFor now it's just a placeholder. The whole thing is already getting a bit crowded so not sure how well multiple birds would fit, hence the flamethrower idea. But that would be more difficult to light I guess. Will need to experiment a bit.

Markus Helmers AuthorSo, as of now I'm leaning more towards the flamethrower solution. The whistling birds only leave a very thin smoke trail with glowing tips. However the wires holding this would also have to be very thin yet be able to hold the fiber optics in place. Thin fibers don't carry a lot of light. This is especially true if you have to roughen the ends to allow for a bit of side glow while being wrapped in cotton. There's practically no light left unless the room is completely dark. Not exactly what I had in mind. Will have to study some YT vids of some of the modeling wizards that do explosions. Any recommendations welcome!

Markus Helmers AuthorThank you. This one was one of my first, nay, I think the first model I painted. Gave that away a long time ago. And with the others... I do usually take build pics but more often than not I have stuff around unfinished for a long time. I start a kit, then lose interest and start another, and at some point they bug me so I finish them in a day. That's usually the ones with less pics or no build pics at all. I do take them, but you know how it is going through your phone looking for specific pics taken a year or longer ago, it's a lengthy task. But I'm starting to do project folders on my PC now. And I kinda always want to make notes on paints used and mixing ratios and stuff but I'm not organized enough for that xD

Markus Helmers Author@CaptGPF I only have one relatively small room that is both my office with workbench and "showroom" if you can call it that. It's a mess most of the times, but I'm working on completing it. But hey, an album with finished builds in their natural habitat is not a bad idea, actually.

Markus Helmers Author@Atomschlumpf: von diesem hier tatsächlich nicht mehr. Aber da mehr oder weniger der ganze Rumpf hohl ist kann man da eigentlich nichts falsch machen. Ich hab da glaub ich 8 oder 9 LEDs drin. Die runden Triebwerke jeweils eine, die oberen sind komplett Glasfaser mit je einer LED pro Seite und dann verschiedene Farben und blinker für das Cockpit. Die LEDs selbst sitzen alle unten in der "Nase".
