The Yugoslavian pro-Axis government was overthrown by a group of pro-Western Serbian Air Force Officers in March 1941 and as a result, the next month, the Axis powers spearheaded by Germany invaded and started what's known as the April War.
Hitler was concerned about the British Royal Air Force using bases in Greece and Yugoslavia to conduct air attacks against the southern flank of the pending attack he had planned on the Soviet Union which was now delayed 4 weeks to focus efforts on Yugoslavia.
Italy had a big part in the invasion which only lasted from April 6, 1941 to April 18, 1941. They primarily focused on moving down the Dalmatian coast while facing only light resistance. This diorama portrays a Carro Armato M13/40 of the 133rd Armoured Division Littorio and the 52nd Infantry Division after capturing the town of Gradac on April 13.
