My father logbook says he was assigned to 1(F) OTU Chatham on October 4, 1954. His first flight on the Sabre was with Mk.V 23242 on Oct. 14.
Also building another Sabre, as the first one he flew after being posted to 427 Sqn in Zweibrucken, West Germany in 1955.

Album info

RCAF 1(F) OTU was responsible for converting pilots to the Sabre fighter, equipping them for frontline duties. Based at RCAF Station Chatham, New Brunswick it used various Sabre models, including the Sabre Mk 5.
