With the annexation of Czechoslovakia in 1938, the German Army took control of 244 Czech LT vz. 35 (Light Tank model 1935). These tanks carried a 37mm main gun and 25mm of frontal armor which made them comparable to the existing PzKw III. In German service the tank was renamed Panzerkampwagen 35(t) and was issued to the 11th Panzer Regiment. The 11th PR was assigned to the 1st Light Division and saw action in the invasion of Poland in September 1939.
