Tamiya Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien 1:48 - FINISHED

A project which has been started already around christmas 2024. The kit is very nice and the fit is phenomenal as you may see in the pictures. Apart from the very appealing design the Hien has an impressive wingspan (compared with a Bf-109).

The Hien always made me wonder how the Japanese did not win in the Pacific! Such beautiful lines!!! Your paint work looks pretty close to perfect! Just like the Bf-109 G6 and the P-38J models, Tamiya has just knocked it out of the park with these 1:48 scale WWII Fighters!!!

Thank you mates for all your interest and nice comments! Tamiya´s Hien is a very nice kit. The used paints were Tamiya acrylics, AK Real Colors (red parts) and AK Exterme Metal. Final clear coat is AK 3rd Gen satin and matte.
As usual I have learned a few things: always put a clear coat after metallic paints. Maybe I had done in the past already right and just forgot with this build? I do not remember... but now I am eager to do a BMF again.

I just ordered one of these... If it's anything like the Bf-109 G6, it is probably really nice to build!!! Cheers!!!

@ Desert Marlin: I have not build Tamiya´s G6 (yet). But you definitely cannot make anything wrong the Ki-61. A true modern Tamiya kit. Anytime something goes wrong during building such kits I am sure: it is 100% my fault.
