R12 Diorama - Work in progress
August 4, 2025The start. Second model after returning to scale modelling and finishing the build of a Tamiya Kübelwagen (1:35).
August 4, 2025Finished build.
August 4, 2025First attempt at a paint job on the figure.
August 4, 2025Rollback on the first try, more fitting base tones applied to everything.
August 4, 2025About six years later - first mockup for a diorama. Added another soldier to fill out the base and add some variety.
August 4, 2025The motorcycle painted. Hated the sputter, but was not in the mood to drop everything and repaint it. Hopefully the mud spatter will help mask it (it kind of did).
August 4, 2025Trying out the first layout.
August 4, 2025Edges trimmed, adding foliage and loads and loads of mod podge.
August 4, 2025Road surface is VMS Smart Mud with patches of AK terrains paste.
August 4, 2025First airbrush passes to even everything out.
August 4, 2025Base colors applied.
August 4, 2025Oil washes.
August 4, 2025Some posters applied to a fence made of matchsticks around the same time as the motorcycle was assembled.
August 4, 2025Blurry photo of the mostly finished base with what will be muddy puddles. The ink in the AK still water puddles was way too brown and vibrant.
August 4, 2025Even blurrier photo of the same thing. The tools are 3D printed and brush painted.
August 4, 2025Figures waiting to be painted.
August 4, 2025Some progress.
August 4, 2025Finishing touches on the base.
August 4, 2025Figures waiting to be varnished.
August 4, 2025The first layout that I had set out beforehand. Was not pleased with it as the "front" of the diorama mostly showed the backs of the figures and all of the focus was at the back of the diorama.
